We visited the Canadian Rockies last summer, and had a great time. Unfortunately, the Kicking Horse Lodge is more of a motel, and is not run very efficiently. Despite our confirmed reservation, they didn't have room for us on our second night, although they did arrange for us to stay at the Moberly Mountain Lodge in Golden (about 20 miles west) which was a nice place, though less convenient for our plans. Field is a cute little town, with several little B&Bs (1 to 3 guest rooms), and a great restaurant & general store, the Truffle Pig. It's worth a detour, even if the Kicking Horse (under present management) is not.
