Stayed at Cathedral Mountain Lodge for 1 night. Beautiful grounds, great cabins, super nice staff who couldn't do enough for us and great food. Drawback...pretty close to the main highway. If you were sitting on your deck, you could hear the tractor trailers going down the hill. The other thing I didn't care for was how close together the cabins were. BUT, a really great place....I'd stay again. The cabins have a small dining area (table and chairs), living room area w/fireplace and then bed area. The bathroom was really nice with sliding "barn doors". Really well kept and a great location to stay to explore Takkakaw Falls and Emerald Lake areas. The staff was super! They even made up a table out on the main deck, near the fireplace for us to eat at. Breakfast is included in your stay and was excellent. The main dining/lounge area is just beautiful and they even offer S'mores by the fireplace each evening.

We (my wife and I and my son and his girl friend) spent two nights here and two nights at the Moraine Lake Lodge (it was a package deal). We stayed in a cabin here just off the Kicking Horse River, with Cathedral Mountain as a back drop. Wonderful relaxing place. The staff was very helpful and the included breakfast was very nice. It reminded me (in a good way) of camping as a kid. I'd stay here again if plans bring us back to this area.

This is a second trip with a different friend, and the experience was even more amazing this time around. The lodge is a good base for hiking and exploring. The complimentary buffet breakfast was very good and included a delicious quiche. Comments are sometimes made about the traffic sounds and railway. We noticed the train twice in four days; the sound is distant, and is part of the Canadian heritage! The highway sounds are not an issue. The Kicking Horse River counters that nicely. There is a beach area, campfire set for lighting, and lovely chairs so make sure to walk by the river's edge. The rooms are cozy and the beds remarkably comfortable. Interior decorating beautifully done! The staff are professional, warm and welcoming , particularly James, Jocelyn and Karen, making the stay at Cathedral Mountain a 10/10.

We stayed in room 16, kingsize cabin. Rooms are perfect, clean and cosy.

But to me the location was a bit disappointing. If you expect a special quiet spot...NO! Cabins are very close together (no views), you can hear the nearby highway 24 hours as well as the rail track. We were very close to the main building so 7 am until 10 pm you hear the kitchen fan pretty loud even when you are inside the room with the windows closed.

A la carte dinner is great! Very good quality food!
Included breakfast is good, fresh and a nice variety. But why ASK (in writing) for a gratuity if the breakfast is buffet style...????

We payed CAD 380 (tax incl.) for king cabin + breakfast. According to my standard overpriced!

We came to Cathedral Mountain Lodge for a belated honeymoon and our expectations were certainly met if not exceeded. Some of the issues other reviewers brought up (proximity to railroad and highway and related noise) were absolutely not an issue for us. As far as we were concerned, we were in the middle of the Canadian wilderness without having to drive very far off the main road. Staff at both the front desk and in the dining room were friendly, engaging and very helpful to us in planning our days activities. I have to admit that the food was so good that they could have told me anything and I would have been happy. Seriously, if you stay here, have all your dinners save 1 at the Lodge. For the other one, I would recommend taking the 5 minute drive west to Truffle Pigs in the town of Field. Or you could have all your dinners at the Lodge and take lunch at Truffle Pigs. Up to you, but we did both. Breakfast at the Lodge was varied and wonderful. Provided a great start to the days activities in an absolutely wonderful part of the planet.

Tricky review to write this. The folks at Cathedral were lovely and looked after us really well. The cabins are really well put together and very luxurious. And the river views are stunning. But it's not quite as remote as the slick marketing makes it look - the main road is only a few hundred yards away, which is kind of a shame - and the cabins are in quite a close 'village' pattern. So is it worth the upscale price tag? I'd say yes, as long as your not expecting it to be a backwoods experience, which perhaps we (unfairly) were. In short, very nice, but should be for the price.

Room Tip: Ask for the ones away from the car park.

Had the most romantic private lodge with an open fireplace and terasse for enjoying the scenery. When we arrived at the hotel, our luggage and ourselves were driven by golf car to our lodge where an icecold bottle of whitewine was awaiting us. The hotel restaurant serve great gourmet food and the staff are very helpful. Great place in the middle of the most beautiful nature!
