“Lovely Cabin”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We stayed one night at Cathedral Mountain Lodge as we were embarking on a 3 day hiking expedition at Lake O'Hara. The cabins are beautiful, clean and well appointed. The lodge itself offers a beautiful sitting area and deck where you can enjoy coffee, tea and cookies in the afternoon or just sit around soaking up the atmosphere and beautiful surrounding scenery.
Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was also very good. The staff were fantastic!
Pricing for the accomodation is higher than what it actually offers. Noise from the nearby highway and the train detracts from the ambiance and did not allow my wife to gave a very good sleep.

Great location, beautiful environment. Food in the restaurant was great and the little 'beach' at the river is awesome! The lodges are very cute, a bit small but with high ceilings. Note; the price is high.

This us the best get away!! The scenery is surreal and the main lodge and accommodation lodges are just the best. So cozy. Great staff, food and all round dreamy place!! Hiking is superb -you are really In the wilderness. But if u just want to read a book by the river, u can go sit in adirondack chairs and do just that.

This was our third stay at Cathedral. As always, it was great! We had very cool weather so the fireplace in the lodge got a working when we got back after a long days hiking! Breakfast is the best we have had in the area. Great for getting energy before hiking. Right up the road from Takakkaw Falls. Our last morning there we even had a black bear on the grounds! The staff are ALWAYS so polite. Our waitress our first night there recognized us from 2 years ago. You won't be disappointed until the time you realize that you have to check out to leave.

Room Tip: Be ready to never want to leave!

It's not cheap - you're paying a lot because they generate all electricity and filter the water on site - but it's really pretty. The hikes and scenery are gorgeous, there's some amazing rafting not far away, and the cabins are clean and nice.

After realizing our borrowed tent had no poles we took a chance that the lodge across from the Kicking Horse Campground had a room. Not only did they have a cabin available, it was gorgeous, spotless, romantic, and affordable! The staff were great, and the setting is amazing as well. A nice shower after a day of hiking and sight seeing. We also had a terrific dinner at the restaurant. Great spot for couples, probably not ideal for kids. An extremely pleasant experience which I would highly recommend.

We visited Cathedral Mountain Lodge four years ago, and were pleased to find the great food and service still there when we stayed five nights this July. The lodge's location is ideal, very close to the Canadian Rockies' best hiking including The Iceline Trail at Takakkaw Falls and Lake O'Hara in Yoho National Park. The individual cabins are not large, but very homey, spotless and the beds are good. They have fireplaces inside and adirondack chairs on the porch. The main gathering lodge is incredibly pleasant, with a big porch with fireplace next to the river for drinks and a beautiful casual dining room. The cuisine is an outstanding surprise - imaginative and changing with excellent specials and salads every day, fresh fish, game and great vegetables. Breakfast is very special; the pastries alone would make us come back. Box lunches were tasty for hiking as well. The people are exceptionally nice and have great knowledge of the area. One service hiccup: When we checked in they made plans with my husband to make my favorite birthday cake four nights later, but the morning of my birthday, they let him know the chef hadn't had time to make it after all. We had a different dessert instead, but my husband was pretty disappointed at the change.

Room Tip: Privacy and quietness of the cabins varies quite a bit - ask to be far away from the kitchen fan and...
