We were staying at the Emerald Lake Lodge so found ourselves in their restaurant on the first night. What a mistake

The food was second rate which would have been ok if the service was excellent - but it was abysmal. We were seated in the lounge and we may have well been seated on Mars ... It took over 25 minutes for the pre meal drinks to arrive, 45 minutes for the Entrees to arrive (and we were not ordering anything abnormal). I raised the service with staff and this just made things worse ...

Spent the rest of the holiday eating out

My wife and I didn't have a great lunch experience, I had to locate the server to place my order and it took a very long time. We both ordered the bison burger and it was average at best, burger was dry, for $48 with tip (We both had water) we expect decent service and a mouthwatering burger. You are much better off packing a picnic lunch and enjoying that at one of the many picnic tables setup around the lake.

Stayed at Emerald Lake Lodge and, quite frankly, you are a captive audience. There really isn't too much else around even if you leave the property, so make the best of it. We had breakfast in the Mount Burgess Dining Room twice during our stay, and had dinner in the Kicking Horse Lounge just across the lobby one night (same dinner menu in lounge, just no reservations needed). The food was good, but pricey, and the service was sporadic It seems like they hire a lot of young people from around the world to staff the busy summer season, and food service & waiting tables may be a new experience for them.

We had 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners in the Dining room and the food was top notch. No complaints and the selection and technique used to prepare the food was perfect.
