For us, Field was great. It's all about the location. After a day coming down the Icefield parkway, field was the right place to stop for a few nights. Allowed us to do Yoho and Lake Louise etc before heading down to Banff. It would obviously work the other way round as well. Not sure about the other properties in Field, but this one is fine. The Chapmans are great hosts and the accomdation is big and clean.

A superb and unbelievable place to stay. Was a very cozy place. Very spacious and cheap.....was perfect for two couples and a baby with a seperate room/dining room with a sofabed and a big kitchen. And the price was relatively cheap compared to what we've paid before and after. The Chapman's family was very welcoming. The view from the room has to be seen to be believed.

Field is a lovely village with good access to Yoho National Park attractions and only 20 minutes from Lake Louise. In comparison with the rest of the Canadian Rockies accommodation, this is unbelievably good value. The host Craig is very friendly and the rooms are more like small apartments.

Wish we could have stayed longer. If we are in this area again, we are definitely coming back.

Perfect location to explore Yoho. Very comfortable, private with all that we needed for a three night stay. We only got to meet Craig who made us very welcome and then left us to our own devices. Great to come back to after trail walking (try the Iceline Trail..in snow!). Field is a great spot to use as a base though make sure you "stock-up" with groceries as there is very little on offer. Good little cafe a block away.

Our 5th time staying at the Mt. Stephen Guesthouse was just as comfortable and relaxing as the first time. After a long day of hiking in these beautiful mountains, it's so nice to be able to come back to the warmth and hospitality that is extended by Kim and Craig. The village of Field is so quiet and slow-paced (compared to so many other areas of the Canadian Rockies), and staying at this guesthouse blends in nicely with that same atmosphere.
The added bonus to this year's trip was the good advice we received from our hosts which enabled us to successfully get back into the Lake O'Hara region of Yoho--an area that most visitors up here are never able to experience.
Take it from one who knows, the Mt. Stephen Gueshouse will not disappoint and will be there for you in every way possible.

We stayed here the first two nights of our vacation, and after our trip in BC, Vancouver Island and the Rocky's, we came back for the last night (because we found nothing nice and affordable in Lake Louise).
It is a very clean, comfortable and cozy suite, with a very well furnished kitchen and nice extra's, such as readingbooks and a little light in the bathroom, that glows in the dark.
Field is a friendly village, and the atmosphere in the nearby restaurant/shop Chercher la vache seemed very nice (since we had a good kitchen, we prepared our own meals).
Our hostess was friendly, goodlaughing and relaxed. She recognised us immediately when we came back for our last visit, and charged us the same rate als three weeks before, even if it was more like the high season now. This made us feel kind of welcome. So, we really enjoyed our stays here.

Field is the nicest little town we've stayed during our 5month trip and the Mount Stephen Guesthouse just perfectly fits into this impression. The rooms are downstairs, with a private entrance. They are both big, with bathroom, bedroom, living room and a kitchen. Craig and Kim are both nice. Spend 2 wonderful nights here and would definitely come back! We can really recommend this Guesthouse. Only negativ point: the internet connection is lousy!

  • Liked — roomsize, comfortable armchair and bed, location
  • Disliked — sometimes no internet connection
