Pros- free showers, clean washrooms, outdoor swimming pool (best part)

Cons-No playground, small sites with no privacy, our site was near stagnant water and the mosquitoes were voracious! No where else in Fairmont that we explored (example hiking trails or even at the pool at this campground) were the mosquitoes as bad as they were at our campsite. Even covered in deepwoods off and fully clothed we have come home covered and itching from head to toe in mosquito bites. They were so terrible we preferred to be inside the tent and dreaded having to come out in the morning to make breakfast or being stuck at the campsite winding down the day. I think this has to do with the swampy pond and area around the 'island' at this campground.

I am pretty picky when it comes to campgrounds being from N Sask where most sites in campgrounds you can't see or hear any of your neighbors. Realizing quickly once in AB and BC this is not the norm for campgrounds this one is "not bad" if you are there at the right time and it is not busy. The tenting sites are pretty good. Lots of trees and room. The RV sites that have power are pretty disappointing as you are camping like cordwood. But we were lucky mid week in June so we were very secluded and enjoyed camping along the river very much but again no neighbors when we were there. Had their been neighbors my review would likely be different.
The views are spectacular, sites are level. Staff was very accommodating and you can have a fire which you can't at the resort at the Hot Springs. I would stay again in slow season as the scenery is spectacular!

Room Tip: If you are tenters there are some very nice secluded sites on the far side of the island. If you ha...

We stayed at this campground in August. It was very disappointing. The front of the campsite was more like an RV park with full hook ups. The back of the campground was more for tents and trailers with no service. We were looking for being more in the wilderness with trees and privacy, but unfortunately the non-serviced sites in the back had no trees or privacy. There was a small playground but was old and not maintained. We stayed 3 nights and we probably never come back to this campground again, because we like more the backcountry camping like Chilliwack Lake, BC. The pros of this campsite, flush toilets, hot shower, swimming pool and a little store. Note that everything in the store was double priced but if you really needed Tylenol or firewood they had it there.

Room Tip: The no service sites are in the back with no trees or privacy. The service sites are in front but cr...

My sister and I stayed at this campground in June. It is a lovely place with friendly staff. We had one of the nicest sites right by the river (site 428) and it was beautiful and private. Many sites are nicely treed in and private but there are also ones that are side by side with no trees so you want to choose your campsite wisely. There is a map when you book online. The washrooms were clean and it is nice and close to the town of Fairmont. I did go home with many mosquito bites on my ankles so wear socks and bug spray at night around the fire.

We camped here with our tent trailer for a couple nights in August. We considered the main RV park at Fairmont for it's proximity to the pools but chose not to as photos we saw were not that appealing (a true RV parking lot). Spruce Grove seemed to be a better option.

The campground did not disappoint. For a private campground, the spots were generally roomy. There isn't a lot of organization as it looks like they put spots in wherever they could but people weren't packed in like in a RV park. The sites aren't well marked at all so you pretty well had to use your map and guess where your site was. There aren't a lot of trees here so privacy is almost nil. The plus side of that though is those of us with small children could see clear across the campground at all times so it wasn't an issue letting them go play. Even though we really didn't need power or water, we got an upgraded site on the interior to try and get away from the highway noise other reviews have mentioned. It didn't matter - you hear the highway loud and clear. We're all heavy sleepers so it didn't bother us but it might be an issue if you're a light sleeper. There is a large, homemade playground in the middle with lots of kids so our daughter quickly made friends. The bathroom facilities were pretty clean, including the free showers. Laundry is available as well. The swimming pool was large and clean - a good alternative if you wanted a quick dip without having to go to the hot springs.

We would stay here again.

The weekend of August 16th, 2013, I and 2 girlfriends occupied 2 of the spots in the power and water service area. This place was an INCREDIBLE disappointment. Each spot is so tiny you can see and hear EVERYTHING from the neighbors on both sides of you. ZERO PRIVACY. Very few trees. Clearly, they are more interested in profit than providing an enjoyable and relaxing environment. I would suggest booking at the Dry Gulch Provincial Campground instead. It's only minutes away, and you actually have some breathing room.

CAMPGROUND FAIL!

Its a nice place to stay. Washroom is clean. Shower is free. The only thing is this place is right beside the highway, so it's a bit noisy. The staffs are friendly. There's a hot pool here. I would definitely come back. ...............................
