“Still a really nice place to be”
Reviewed 12 June 2013

Very nice timeshare condos on the Riverside Golf Course. We've been going regularly for 21 years and still really like it. The units were truly beautiful and upscale at the beginning, but they've come down somewhat in luxuriousness since then. Still very nice, and comfortable, though with signs of age showing here and there. The buildings are in various stages of renovation. The 2 bedroom, 3 bathroom, (sleeps 8 with 2 pullouts) unit we had no longer has a King-size bed, and the biggest TV was an old 26". Everything was very clean, but the fixtures are looking old, the door handles are worn, the balcony door is rusting.

Make sure you book a 2-bedroom, so you get the beautiful big balcony overlooking the golf course, and not just the small side overlooking the parking lot. Or figure out a way to ensure you get the 1-bedroom A-side. The B-side is often listed as having a limited kitchen.

We have exchanged to a lot of other timeshares, and this still rates among the best. Being right on the golf course, it feels quieter and uncrowded. The Rec Centre is a 2-minute walk away, with a playground, indoor pool and hot tub, weight room, craft room, pool table, shuffleboard, games and books to borrow free, horseshoes-tennis racquets and more to borrow free (bring your own balls), DVD rentals ($5 each or $25 for the week!), sundries store, and Activities sign-ups. The outdoor pool, waterslide, hot tubs, spray park is at the Sunchaser Hillside Resort - a 5-7 minute walk. In summer, people with pool-loving children might prefer Hillside for the easier access. Our favourite things are the incredible variety of Activities offered - so many are free, others for a small fee. Guided hikes, crafts, several sports-including archery, climbing gym, golf, lots of group games, wellness classes, food get-togethers, events. Something for everyone!

The check-in, maintenance and recreational staff were excellent - especially given that they are currently dealing with a lot of very unhappy owners - very displeased with the timeshare management company. I am one of those unhappy people and will no longer be an owner, so I have no vested interest in whether you go to Riverside or not. It's just a really nice place to be.

Room Tip: Make sure you have an A-side, so your balcony overlooks the golf course. Or an A and B for the 2-bed...

We spent a week here, actually leaving today. We found the place through RCI as an extra vacation. after reading the reviews I was somewhat vary about the place. We had a terrace room in the 3000 building, Hillside. We had to go down 1 flight and we had a terrace looking out to the mountains. Kitchen is fully equipped, although I wish they would have non-stick pans. fireplace was a nice addition as the weather did not cooperate. Everything was in working order, the place was clean, no bugs (as a reviewer mentioned they had some in the room). However, there are a few things that needs improvement. The BBQs on the terrace are close to the bedrooms. Someone was using it to make breakfast and waking up to the smell of the BBQ was not enjoyable. Insulation on the windows/doors would be very nice to cut out the smell and noise from the outside. We heard water being flushed every time a neighbour used the washroom. Washer/dryer is somewhat noisy but nobody uses them during the night. The villas need to change from a key entry system to a card entry system, it was tough to open the door with the key. The doors should also have a secondary lock, i.e. chain lock or bar lock for security. They have a nice pool area, indoor, with hot tubs. There are a lot of activities for people with kids and it's a relaxing place for older adults. There is a lot to see and do in the area, great restaurants, shopping. Although there are little things than can be improved, overall, it is a very nice facility and we will certainly make it one of our vacation spots. As for the renovation, it is being done, but we were far from it and didn't hear a thing. The staff was friendly and answered the few concerns we had. We will definitely be back again, maybe the weather will cooperate then :o)

It used to be a great place. We spent many years coming here when I was young and once we had our own family it was a favorite holiday spot. Now, after years of mismanagement, declaring bankruptcy, and a very shady new management, it has gone to pot. Our last time there was spent being awakened early in the morning to roofing guys repairing the roof on the building next door, and many things falling apart and no sympathy from management. Apparently they are now trying to fix the mess by charging the owners exorbitant prices for a complete multi million dollar overhaul. THere are many other nice places to stay, we won't be back to this one!

Room Tip: I am sure some of the rooms are not as bad as others, but the whole place is going downhill.

This is a fabulous place for families. I don't care what season/time of year it is, this place has everything you need. The condos were fine! While it's perfectly acceptable for pinky-raising persnickity folks to level in with their opinions, you may want a voice from the regular crowd. You need nothing for comfortable living conditions in their condos. They provide everything, and in an incredibly beautiful locale. Smart, and well thought activites were available all week long for the younger ones, clean public areas, and close to some excellent restaurants and a nice gorcery store. Please... When you read reviews in here, you are perhaps better to disregard a review from someone with only one review. That may sound unfair, but at the same time, be smart and think that it may be from a competitor. The staff were all nice, and there really isn't anything else I need to say about that. This place gets a rare top rating from me, and it's because of the great week my family just had there. The bug is already being rammed into my ear to return here by both my two teenagers, and my two little gals. Yee-up. That good...

Stayed here with family for 3 nights in a two bedroom condo. The service from the front end staff was horrible. Staff could care less about quality service, were rude to deal with, dismissed concerns/issues with condo and ther service alone is the main reason to avoid this place. Not to mention the bugs that were in the bed during the night and in the mornings (in February!). When brought to the attention of the front staff, their response was "they're only bugs". Bugs in the beds is something that needs to be addressed and not just sluffed off. Nothing was offered to my family to date as an apology for the poor experience which really shows the class that this place has. Stay away from here and consider just staying in Invemere like we did after (Copper Point Resort is awesome).

We reserved and paid for a full week at the Sunchaser Vacation Villas Family Day 2013. We checked out after one night and lost all our money, with no satisfaction offered. Inside the unit (2016 A and B) the paint was peeling and there was black mould around the windows. The unit has not been updated since the 1980s. The front desk offered us another unit which we declined because, it doesn't make sense to think they put us in a slum if they had a better unit reserved in case of a complaint. But apparently that's how they operate.
When I contacted Northwynds, the property rental management company they said the units are being taken out of the market for renovations at the end of February. Northwynds said because we turned down the alternative they don't owe us anything.
Northwynds / Sunchaser is highly deceptive and misleading, almost fraudulent. DO NOT GO THERE.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

Stayed here for a week in mid-Feb and the experience was most enjoyable. When combined, the A and B suites offer a LOT of space! The beds are large and comfortable, and each suite offered a pull-out hide-a-bed, too. Kitchen facilities are nice, large and relatively well equipped; and the BBQ out on the patio is a treat to have (those BBQ's heat up VERY FAST and get really HOT!). Bathroom facilities are in good shape and the Jacuzzi-style bathtubs are comparable to an Olympic-sized swimming pool (...almost).

The public recreation facilities offered a decent sized, and well equipped gym, and a nice, big swimming pool with multiple hot tubs.

Very Nice.
