Marble Canyon & The Residences at Fairmont Ridge
Reviewed 23 June 2013

We booked Unit 21 at the Residences at Fairmont Creek and were very impressed with it. It is a 4 bedroom condo that suited us perfectly. Bedrooms are situated below the Main Living area giving privacy for those staying up late or late risers. Master suite is in the top floor, being very quiet and private. The condo has a lot of stairs that may be a problem for theses with limited mobility.
We were stranded in Fairmont during the recent floods and had been turned back from a highway due to roads washing out. We returned to the sales office and they rebooked us into another unit for FREE! (only paying for a cleaning fee!
How amazing is that! There kindness was so appreciated and will always be remembered.

Booked 8 days vacations for 14 peoples to stay.

Resort had 5 bedrooms, full kitchen, pool table, walkout basement to golf course, hot springs at walking distance.

Wonderful location lots of activities around for all ages. Good place for group of friends or family reunions.

Will definately go again

Our family had a 5 bedroom unit during the first week of March 2013. I certainly agree with the previous comments in terms of the size and conditions of the units. I believe a 5 bedroom unit is over 3,000 square feet which is larger than many homes but keep in mind that this is a 3 storey unit with many steps.
We have been doing timeshare exchanges (RCI, Interval) for many years and certainly Marble canyon is one of the finest timeshares that we have stayed in, however there is room for improvements. For example:
We had booked a crib for our youngest grandchild well before our check in date and we did not receive it (after a phone call) until a day later. Fortunately, the grandchild in question arrived a day after we arrived so it was not a problem but if travel schedules had been different it could have been an issue.
Surprisingly, numerous lightbulbs needed to be replaced which on the first occasion took 2 days to remedy. Additional lighting needed to be replaced later in the week (main bedroom first floor, entrance and kitchen lights) and despite a telephone call in midweek no replacements were ever completed.
Keep in mind that there is a compulsory cleaning fee ( paid prior to arrival) based on the number of bedrooms in the unit. For a 5 bedroom unit the fee is $199.00 which is a considerable amount of money when added to exchange fees and maintainence fees already previously paid.
One cannot check in until 5 PM by a key code provided by management and the code does not activate itself until exactly 5 PM. So if you arrive earler, I suggest that your party go for a swim at the nearby hotsprings!

Our family was on a ski vacation and Marble Canyon is an excellent location for alpine skiing. The Faimont Ski Resort is 5 minutes from the condo door. The larger hills, (Panorama, Kimberly) are a maximum 1 hour drive. If you ski at Fairmont, one gets free entrance (same day) to the Fairmont Hot Springs pools. If you have young beginners I would recommend the Fairmont Hill as it is cheaper and less crowded then the bigger resorts

Summary: Very nice, large condos, good location for skiing but a series of minor irritants that result in a very good but not excellent mark!

We stayed here over the weekend of Canada Day and were blown away from the start of the process till we left our sleepy little hamlet. Jenna was first class in helping us with our condo at the property, plan our trip and gave great advice on the local setting. The property was AH!-MAZING! We stayed in the 2 bed 2.5 bath. It was new, clean, wood floors, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, roomy baths, large rooms, comfortable furnishings, cozy living room with fire place and plenty of storage - truly, this place was nicer than our own home. And that is exactly what we were looking for in a get-a-way. It's easy to find too, as you come down 95/93 just follow the signs that advertise the "show homes." You'll be staying next door - the pictures on the website tell the story.

Here's a tip on the a "local secret" about the hot springs. Take the path to the south out of the property and make your way up towards the resort. On the way you will see a waterfall cascading down into a pool. This is the run off from the hot springs and is free! You'll find a crowd of locals enjoying the warm waters and it makes for a fun experience. Be cautious if you have kiddos, this is a bit of a party spot.

Shop before you get to Fairmont, the market is pricey. Bring salt and pepper, or you can pay $6 for a shaker set from the picnic supplies at the market. The produce is fairly priced, but anything canned/boxed/bottled will be high. As for where to eat, read my recommendation on From Scratch, just down the hill - it's a must in the valley.

Room Tip: Call the property in advance of your stay, they will guide you based on your party size, needs and t...

We traded into marble canyon through RCI vacation exchange. This resort truly deserves it's gold crown rating. The condos are absolutely huge. They are actually bigger than my home. Many have garages and pool tables, amongst all the other typical resort amenities.

If traveling by air, the drive from Calgary to the resort is amazing. The drive through Banff and Kootenay national parks is The most scenic I've taken. Bring your camera.

There is no reception or staff on site to check-in, but they were easily and always available by phone and very helpful. I even had a last-minute room change due to a water leak and they handled it with professionalism to my utmost satisfaction.

Internet WIFI and long distance phone is available for purchase for $40. The WIFI had no issues during our entire stay.

There is a grocery store nearby, but we used the Sobey's in Invermere, 20 minutes away. There is also a BC liquor store in Invermere.

Take a walk using the trail along the creek running adjacent to the property. It runs from the golf course up to the Hot Springs resort and pools. Along the creek, there is a natural hot spring pool. You absolutely must take a dip in this pool. It was the most amazing experience, both the natural warmth of the water and the wonderful smell of the minerals in the water. You will feel revitalized.

There is a nice horse trail ride available next to the Fairmont resort, taking you into the wilderness of the mountains. The company name is Double Deuce. $45 for one hour, and well worth it.

The condos are very well appointed. We did not need to bring much. Bring some coffee & #4 filters for the machine, as they only supply a couple days worth. And salt & pepper is needed. There was some turbidity in the water, so a boil water notice was in effect - we simply brought a couple cases of bottled water- not a problem.

This must be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Bring a camera, with backup memory cards and batteries! We will come back.

Room Tip: All room numbers are shown on a map on the resort website. Ideally choose a room that borders the g...

The condo that we stayed in was amazingly beautiful!! Decorated very beautifully and modern, with lots of warmth and comfort, and lots of room. If you have a toddler, you have to be careful as there was lots of stairs with no gate and sharp edges on the fireplace ledge that a head could easily be hurt on. The location was a nice quiet one and close to hot pools. The kitchen was fully stocked, and had everything you would need!

The only complaint we have is that we found checkout to be a little late, 5pm, would have liked it to be an hour earlier, and checkout was 10am, which we found a little early and rushed a bit, as you have to strip your own bedding, take out the garbage and clean up your dishes of course. 11am would have been a more comfortable checkout time. And be sure you have all of your belongings out of the condo at 10am, as your code is not valid after that time. We got into our car and out of our condo at 10:10am, and I thought my son had left a toy inside. We got out of the car to go back inside to look for it, and our code didn't work anymore. It was only 10:15am, so there is no grace time on the codes. Luckily we found our sons toy in the car, so be sure you have all of your belongings before closing the door behind you when you leave in the morning.

We would definitely stay at this place again for sure, and would love to spend even more days there. :)

Fairmont Hot Springs is a beautiful place and these condos are gorgeous too! Fully furnished and massive - we stayed at a 4 bedroom condo (3000 sqft)! The rates are great as well - highly recommended for family reunions, staff parties, golf groups, etc.
