Cedars Inn Hotel & Convention Centre

Hotel could use some refurbishing, it's very 80's looking. Location is neither good nor bad, everything is quite close in Gibsons anyway. Luckily we got a non-smoking room, hotel lobby was quite cigarette smelling. But we got a discount deal for the room, 35 euros/night, so with that price I'm not complaining and the rooms were clean. No frills experience overall, but good for a one night stop. Might be nicer during summertime, when you can use the pool.

We were planning to meet up with some family, and the location was perfect. I tried to book our room 2 weeks in advance, I was unable to book online, I called and left 2 voicemails- noone bother to return my call within a fw days; i called again and finally someone answered. He was very pleasant, and seemed very accomodating of the fact that we were travelling with a baby;so i assumed that they were just very busy(even though it was low season) We arrived on the evening of our check in, and were given 3 keys for the 3 guests (my husband, myself and our 10 month old baby)Upon finding our room, which was up the stairs and at the very end of the hallway, great a love packing all of our stuff to the very end of he hotel, although the hotel appeared to have very few guests. Our room had numerous mold spots in the bathroom, not exactly idea for a lil ones system. we made sure that we only slept in the room and nothing else. when we were checking out, I brought up my concerns, and the front desk responded with"would you like to leave it on your mastercard?" Not, i am sorry to hear that or would you like to speak to the manager, or any empathy, explaination, or even a hint of customer service. As i was walking out the door i was offered a free coffe voucher for tim hortons- nice.... I was charged $150 for a basic room with mold, and it was the single worst accomodation experience i have ever had. I have stayed in all types of accomodations all over the world and at least if you stayed in a dive- you paid that rate, or they made an effort even to pretend they cared. I would not recommend this to anyone. I have been in the hospitality industry in many different compacities and have never seem such an embarrassment to the industry.

Room Tip: Wish i could- trained staff of change in ownership would help- as the location is terrific

The Man who runs the hotel is very sweet, and all the staff were great and very friendly.... which makes me sad to report, this hotel was quite disapointing. the restraunt is closed for one, our room does not have opening windows, there is no elivator which makes it quite hard with small children, our room doesn't even have a microwave, i cant blow dry my hair even with the hair dryer theve provided, because everytime i turn it on the breaker to our room blows, turning all the power off, i have learnt over the week where the breaker is and now just go switch it back on myself, instead of waiting 20mins to get power again. The housekeeping are very friendly and sweet, but only vacuum, refresh your towels and make the beds, nothing else. We have been here over a week now, and not once have they swept the floor in the bathroom, cleaned the mirror, or even washed the few cups provided in the room. i have tried leaving the cups in the sink or even in the bathtub with the dirty towels, but no luck, they just put them back on the counter unwashed. Yesterday they left a big bottle of toxin cleaner on the bathroom counter in our room as well when we have a 3 year old daughter, thank god i noticed it and moved it before she got into it. .....But aside from that and the fact there was a wedding that kept us all up till late hours of the night... its been wonderful :) ...

P.S. Bring your own shampoo as the one they provide here is by far the worst shampoo ever provided in a hotel and leaves your hair dry, brittle and worse then when you started... and maybe your own cleaning supplies if youd like to have a clean room :)

Will stay there next time we visit Gibsons. They made us feel at home. Enjoyed the hot tub and pool.

Could really use an elevator. Travel light if you go to the second floor. Nice rooms and good stay.

The first room we checked in to was on the second floor, had no opening windows, a filthy carpet and smelled pretty bad. We asked to be changed to one of the balcony rooms, and that was much better, we literally moved across the hall. I am not sure why the lady who checked us in wouldn't have given us that room in the first place. I can not sleep without fresh air. The man who was working at the front was very nice. If we had to stay in the first room, this would have been a 2 star place for sure. The bed was really firm, the room was pretty clean, it was OK. I am not sure there is really anywhere better on the Sunshine Coast. Next time maybe a B and B, but that isn't easy with teens and bikes.

Room Tip: definitely ask for a room with a balcony.

Had a room on the 2nd floor with no elevators so either travel light or ask for a room on the main floor. The restaurant s closed on Mondays doesn't open until 9 other days. Plus it's going to move out very soon wont help. This hotel is ok but really needs refurbishing. The Wifi was fine, room had small fridge bit the windows don't open so it gets stuffy. I didn't notice any better hotels in the area. Gibsons really needs a Best Western!
