We returned to Caprice recently and enjoyed the B&B and Gibsons even more this time. Amazing location, great hosts and scenery to die and dream for.

A well-travelled authoer once wrote: "A hotel room is more than just a place to sleep & shower. It is a threshold to an unfamiliar place and culture." If he would have added that that it can also become a place of contemplation & a place to reminiscence of the day's events, that author would have been describing most succinctly Caprice Bed & Breakfast. We had stayed there just this past May 2012 during out first foray into B.C.'s Sunshine Coast, and it turned out to be the best ever wedding-anniversary celebration sans vacation we ever had. And my wife and I owe all of it to the two most generous, big-hearted, welcoming souls in this planet, Jeanne and Lois. If you're contemplating visiting the Sunshine Coast, I'd recommend staying at Caprice. Long weekend? Stay the whole week!

The place was meticulously clean, always fresh, the beds warm and all-around comforting. If the blue Georgia Strait beyond our windows or attractions that Gibsons or Sechelt or Sunshine Coast in general wasn't beckoning us to explore, we would have been more content to have just stayed the whole day in our room, maybe try my hand at playing guitar or get around to finishing my book. The locale was that conducive to get your creative juices going to hyperdrive; it was forest-quiet, you'd need to tiptoe to discover that there are a couple of houses to the left or right of you and to add to the effect, a deer once meandered by without so much as a by-your-leave as we were going out the tree-bordered driveway.

You would never know it but that amenities were quite nearby: groceries, pharmacy, gas station, the access road to the enjoyable Sunshine Coast Hwy: all within a very short drive. The Caprice was most ideal as a base for our -- your ;-) eventual explorations. Our hosts Jeanne and Lois had started us off on a breakfast feast of fresh fruits, home-made jam, freshly baked bread or croissants. One morning we had generous helpings of egg omelets w/ five cheeses with bacon on top, another morning it was hot pancakes. Did I mention cup after cup of freshly-brewed organic coffee?

I'd done my assignment on the Sunshine Coast but Jeanne provided some timely advice on what to see and do which saved us a bit of disappointment on one particular tour that I had originally planned to do. From Caprice, everything was within an hour's leisurely drive: Davis Bay, Sechelt, Madeira Park, Pender Harbour, Porpoise Bay provincial park. Stop by Pier 17 on Davis Bay and try their roast-beef panini, it was awesome. Then, down it with tubs! of Sunshine Coast's very own "Strait Coffee", proudly locally grown and organic. The price and taste just about beats anything that Vancouver may have had to offer; my wife knows what she's talking about. And while we're on the topic of food, in Madeira Park, there's this Cafe sharing the same building as the Copper Sky Gallery: try their salad made up of roasted beet-corn-quinoa. If its still available when you stop by there for lunch, don't forget seconds. My wife regretted waiting until after our enjoyable, relaxing Slo-Cat water-tour of Pender Harbour to go for thirds. She voiced that regret the all the way back to Caprice and I, the driver, kept on with my mantra: "Are we there yet?" -- in my mind, of course.

Perhaps other B & B may offer such highlights as a 180 degree-view of Gibsons bay but the whole point of our vacation was to stay out and sample the local lifestyle and cuisine to our heart's desire. Were we tired? You bet!! But do you know what awaited us at the end of the day? A hot, bubbling jacuzzi to boil away the day's weariness and excess of adrenalin!! That was, is, and ever will be the Caprice experience. Like its namesake capriccio - a form of free-style music -- B & B which Jeanne & Lois have conducted to be like your home away from home, its own music will always lure you back to rest, serenity and bliss. The most sincere thanks to you ladies for such great memories -- and for your saint's patience with this shutter bug. Kudos and Godspeed ! See you soon !

This very special "room with a view" and kichenette is now the favorite escape place that my 2 dogs love taking me to. It is beyond 5 stars as it also has wonderful beaches nearby, and their own acreage of gardens, trails, ancient tall trees and even a ravine and are totally pet friendly. My canine buddies have convinced me it is the "Best in the West" for our quick escapes from the Big City.
They don't know this, but there is a full breakfast served upstairs, that is a gormet delight.
Jeannette and Lois are wonderful hosts and always make you feel like family.
We highly recommend Caprice B&B to those looking for super natural wilderness experiences with award winning hospitality and many b&b extras. Even your pets will be amazed.

My daughter and I took a quiet 2 night get away on the Sunshine Coast. We were warmly welcomed by Jeanette when I phoned to book our room and when we arrived, we received the same warm greeting and some helpful suggestions for places to enjoy dinner along with nearby strolls on the beach. The second morning we had the pleasure of meeting Lois. Jeanette and Lois make fabulous breakfasts with homemade condiments along with a great cup of coffee. We enjoyed conversing with the other guests during breakfast before beginning our adventures for the day. The room was fresh and inviting- the bed was extremely confortable. We enjoyed dipping into the hot tub in the quietness of the oceanside flora. Definitely a top notch B&B as Jeanette and Lois lend a lot of charm and work towards this goal.

This was our first trip to Gibsons, and have not been to many B&B's in the past. We've mostly been hotel/resort people. Well, we were absolutely pleased with everything about our experience. We arrived Friday afternoon and were hospitably greeted by our hosts Lois & Jeanette. Some of your first sensations are the beauty of their grounds, the views of the ocean and the scents of the flowering shrubs and hanging baskets. The room was beautiful, spacious, clean, had all the amenities and even fresh flowers! We appreciated the hot tub, pool area, and made good use of the gas BBQ for our dinners. The breakfasts were first class and exceeded our expectations. This is a great location, with great views of the ocean with cruise ships sailing by, and an eagle's nest. Very peaceful and serene. We would highly recommend this B&B to anyone and everyone! We would love to return again.

I stayed here for two nights with a couple for friends while we were in Gibsons for a wedding. We all had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and comfortable will all the amenities we needed. The view was wonderful and we enjoyed use of the hot tub and heated pool. The bed was excellent and the owners, Lois and Jeanette, happily obliged my request for non-down bedding. The most enjoyable part of the stay was the excellent breakfast they served, along with friendly and lively conservations. We felt right at home and if I am in Gibsons again I would not hesitate to book another stay.
