Alike some other places this beach is run by the army.
Same prices for everybody, no falang "friend" prices. VERY nice!
Mainly Thai tourists, so better don't come on WE or public holidays. The other days the beach is rather empty.
Find showers for 5 Baht and Toilets for 3 near the beach, Thai standard.
Foodstall good food at very reasonable prices but could be more clean.
Water is 20 Bath for 1.5l though.
Meals served at your deckchair on the beach!
Can reach the beach easily from neighboring towns by Tuktuk for max 50Baht for 1 or more people. Or bicycle for 50 Baht. Cheaper Accommodation there.

Nothing special about this place at all other than you have to pass an army checkpoint to get in. Living in Australia I found the Thai beach in this location to be grubby, littered and the water none to clean and clear. However compared to opposite the Hadthong hotel in town (where the beach is a sewer) it's a lot better.

Ao Manao Bay - Prachuap Khiri Khan City.

This is my favorite place for holidays and I tend to spend all of my holidays there recently..

Prachuap City is more of a mid size sleepy town that has a very laid back atmosphere where nothing moves at too fast a pace. While there are several family friendly seafront restaurants and bars there are no nightclubs or any kind of the night entertainment venues associated with Hua hin or Pattaya and thankfully the type of tourist that frequent these places are not in evidence at Prachuap City. This place is family and clean tourism at its best. It is a super friendly and beautiful place. You will be paying normal Thai prices throughout.

The bay runs right along the the front of the city and has a very nice promenade and pier, Gulf Of Thailand.

At then end of the promenade you have a working, although very quiet Thai air-force base, You are welcome to enter this base via the main gate and then you are in a very beautiful and well maintained place. The base has been mainly given over to tourism operations nowadays. The beach is very beautiful and you also have the wing 5 hotel within the base. The hotel is right on the beach (private section of beach) and has a pool. Accommodation costs double rooms appx 1,200baht per night. There are also duplex family rooms. I have stayed here in the past and would have no difficulty recommending it for couples of any age or families. Book online wing5hotel

The base has a historic park ( see Japanese invasion of Thailand), a wonderful golf course, a golf range and the friendliest monkey's I have ever experienced anywhere. There are also walking trails.

The beach is very clean and very safe for children. Most tourists here will be Thai with a very small sprinkling of mature Europeans or Expat families who live in Thailand. Lots of reasonably and locally priced seafood and other options locally in a covered eating area. There are showers and toilets nearby. There is also a shop, full medical center and an ATM nearby. You will be paying normal Thai prices as the locals do here.

For children and some adults who like there is horse riding (unfortunately in an enclosure), archery and quad bike riding within the base. There is also bicycle hire. There is a banana boat ride and bat trips around the bay during high season.

The base is maintained throughout by the military and the cleanliness etc reflects this. It is spotless clean and secure.

Accommodation options are limitless in the City - just outside the base gates with prices ranging from 300 up to 1,200baht per night. 450baht will usually get you a very clean and reasonable hotel.

On the other side of the base (back gate) you have a vibrant traditional fishing village called Khlong Wan. Lots of resorts (hotels) here from small to large and here you will have no choice but to sit and happily chat with the friendly locals. Personally I prefer to stay in Khlong Wan.

When there rent a moped or bicycle to get around. Just south of the base and Khlong Wan you have a aquarium that's worth a visit and when exploring you will find vast stretches of deserted beaches that you may indeed more than likely be the only person on.

In the city you have the monkey temple to climb and 10kms away you have the Dan Sinkon Myanmar border crossing which where if yo have a visa for Myanmar you can cross although most people go up to the border for the market to buy furniture and jewellery, well worth a visit. You also have several national parks nearby some with beachfront accommodation that are well worth a visit and are easily reachable for moped.

I cannot recommend Prachuap City enough for "mature and family type tourism". Any more info required message me.

An Manao beach is on a military base so it closes in the evening and there is no accommodation right there. The beach itself isn't that spectacular but the water is clear and shallow and ideal for kids.

There are plenty of restaurants so you can grab a deck-chair and chow down on good, cheap, local food. Avoid weekends and Thai public holidays as the place gets packed.
