What a joy to go away for a couple of days and come back knowing you have two new friends for life. Mike and Sara are what makes The Old Mill Soar the beautiful little haven it is. They have a true gift in hospitality and nothing is too much trouble for them. Our boys Sam 13 & Elijah 8 were totally relaxed on our stay and they didn't want to leave. Elijah asked me again when we were going back.
Sara cooked us a wonderful lasagna for when we arrived and made us feel completely at home. We were always kept topped up with tea and food. Breakfasts were amazing too using all local produce. Sam got to try a duck egg too. The boys also got creative with Mike doing some pyrography, actually so did us adults. What a lovely touch. We will be returning as soon as we can. Superb place to stay! :)

Lovely converted mill full of character. The owners were extremely friendly and generous hosts. If you enjoy getting away from it all ( yipee- no tv!) in cosy homely, shabby chic surroundings, then this is the place for you. Children will also love the ducks, geese and hens ( who kindly provide the eggs for breakfast). My room was lovely and had an ensuite loo, but my only minor gripe is that there was no ensuite shower. However this a really special place and I look forward to returning.

This has to be one of Wales's most beautiful B&Bs.
The setting is just superb on a quiet country lane just outside of Llandysul.
This stunning building has been sympatheticaly restored to retain all its history and heritage.
The grouds are enhanced by the clucking and quacking of the free running chickens and ducks.
But what makes this just unique are Sara and Mike, who share their kindness and love of all things with everybody who comes.
It is said that the kitchen is the heart of a home....nowhere is this more true that at The Old Mill.
The Aga is always on and the shelves are full of homemade jams, chutnies, jellies and much more. The fruits have all been picked locally and Sara will descibe where she has picked the fruit for each and every jar!....and just wait to you taste them!
The perfect place to unwind, charge the battteries or just take time to re connect with yourself

We’ve stayed in many fine B&B’s all over England and Wales but none of them have come close to offering the hospitality you will enjoy at the Old Mill Soar. The warmth and kindness of Michael and Sara is truly unique. It’s a beautiful house in a beautiful location with beautiful people look you after. We hope to return many times.

We two G.P.s- at times very jaded and cynical- have been utterly won over by the charm of this lovely place, and by Sara and Mike.
From the friendly e-mails to the warm welcome with cake and tea from Sara, to roses in the bedroom, cheese and biscuits, comfortable night's sleep and full Aga breakfast which somehow stretched to elevenses, we were made to feel like valued friends rather than paying guests.
We were having a very short break away and took Sara and Mike's recommendation for meals and walks, and were not disappointed.
Yes, you two do have healing powers, and we hope to see you again.
Highly recommended.

I needed some where for my Wife the dog and I to lay our heads at short notice and called Sara at 9 o'clock in the morning to see if she could help. She was fantastic and very welcoming so we arrived at 5.30 to welcomed by Mike with the kettle on and biscuit at the ready. We had a faboulous time and where made to feel so welcome (including various infusions to try and relieve my wifes terrible cold) that we will definately be visiting again. Despite it being a very fleeting visit the area is beautiful and Sara and Mike restore ones faith in the goodness of mankind.

A brilliant building, a very comfy bed and superb breakfast what more do you need

I stayed with Sara and Mike via the Helpx.net community - which doesn't change my recommendation to stay with those two lovely people :) They are really nice, helpful and thoughtful. They welcome u with open arms and also they make beautiful food (on their Aga) and breakfast. The rooms are cozy to stay in and very comfy beds which were even nice and warm in winter. The Old Mill is definitely worth staying when u travel around Wales - and you should definitely meet Sara and Mike. They are always good to talk to and u'll have conversations about all sorts of things. I'm sure we'll keep in touch.
Enjoy your stay!
