Booked this as wanted to stay close to Mt. Rainier to access Sunrise so only one night stay. Our accommodation was clean and comfortable on the ground floor. One bedroom, a sitting area and kitchen area. There is no air conditioning but we managed okay without it. There is a shop in reception where you can buy all sorts of items for breakfast in single quantities if required. There is no restaurant close by so we took the opportunity to attend the barbecue which they were having in the grounds. Can't remember the cost but very reasonable. A lot of guests attended where there were burgers, hot dogs, salmon burgers with potatoes, salad, wine and beer and dessert. We sat for a while round a camp fire after dinner and chatted with some of the other guests and owners. It was a lovely evening although we did get some "bites" but what can you expect with forest and grass and had forgotten to put on insect repellent!! We left early in the morning and there was a box where you could leave your keys. My only comment would be that there was no iron or ironing board in our accommodation which I find strange in USA as every hotel we have been in this is supplied. We were only there for one night so it was no issue and I suspect it may be available on request. All in all a great place to stay if you are visiting Mt. Rainier - Sunrise. The morning we went was a beautiful blue sky and the views were astounding - very worthwhile going.

Very relaxed hotel- quiet setting, no one around except for the others staying there. They do a good job of making sure you have what you need during check in. The rooms are very nice- I expected something cheap looking like a Motel 6, but they are furnished and decorated even better than I would have thought. All of the rooms have quality flooring and nice furniture. It was even nice to see they have satellite TV for when you're in the room. (But there is no cell phone service- you can connect to their Wi-Fi, but you won't have a cell phone to use.)

My only complaint would have been the room noise- each building has two floors and if you're on the lower level you will be annoyed by the people above you. You hear every single chair being moved away from the table, anytime someone is walking across the room, I mean every single thing. I would suggest anyone get a second floor room if possible so you don't have this happen to you also.

When we began our search for lodging near the Sunrise side of Mt. Ranier, we were a bit surprised at the lack of options. Alta Crystal Mountain proved to be a good choice for us, however. We had the Loft Chalet Suite and were surprised by how steep the stairs (really a ladder) were. We had planned to put our child upstairs and occupy the bedroom downstairs, but when we saw how steep the ladder was and how close it was to the beds upstairs, we decided that was not a safe choice for our very active four-year-old, who then stayed in the bedroom downstairs, while we stayed upstairs (Anyone with mobility issues would not be able to climb the ladder). At any rate, overall we found the resort clean, well-furnished, and very well managed. The owners were super helpful in terms of providing information about the area. We swam in the pool, used the hot tub, and played ping pong. The on-site store was also very convenient, and the location was perfect for exploring the Sunrise/Crystal Mountain side of Mt. Rainier. We did not have cell phone service, but we had anticipated that. Our only complaint was the heat. We didn't check in until late, and although it was a pleasant temperature outside, it was hot in our upstairs suite. The owners had done everything possible to mitigate against that---providing fans in the bedrooms and leaving the windows and sliding door open to get as much cool air as possible----but we still found it too hot to sleep soundly at night. In our initial search, however, we really didn't find any air conditioned lodging available in this area, so I don't think the problem is unique to this property. My guess is that there are only a few days out of the year when it is hot enough to need air conditioning, and we just happened to pick one of those times. Nevertheless, if we return to this area, we will definitely stay at this property again.

Room Tip: Choose a downstairs room if you have a lot of luggage, because there is no elevator to the second fl...

We only stayed one night here, but could have stayed longer. It was the best part of our Seattle vacation!
We stayed in a one bedroom with loft room, which had 3 beds and 2 bathrooms. Also 2 TV's with dvd players. The room was great. Clean, neat, just like home. The rooms do not have AC, but even on a very hot August day, none was needed with the mountain breeze and the chill at night. We even kept the windows and screen door open all night, and it was SO QUIET!
Kids will love this place. So much to do and see!
The amenities at this hotel are fantastic. At the front desk they have a scavenger hunt around the property that takes you through the woods and along a mountain stream, it's breathtaking! The pool was nice and warm, the hot tub was great. We stayed on a night they had a delicious BBQ, it was great tot have a home cooked meal on vacation! And the BBQ gave us a chance to chat with the others staying at the hotel, some came as far away as New Zealand.
The hotel has a great rec building with activities for everyone if it's raining, or even when it's not.
The only downside was no cell service, and barely any wifi connection, it's spotty, so eventually I just gave up trying. Satellite tv is excellent. The front desk has TONS of movies, all new releases too (but they aren't free, over $5/night). The few groceries they have are perfect for families, if you will be making food in the kitchen of your room they have what you need.

The only downside is that they will charge you for everything. I mean, everything. And run your credit card before you even agree to the charges. I didn't dispute anything, but a little notice ahead of time for what I would be paying for would have been nice.

Room Tip: Loft rooms are fantastic for families. Lots of space and 2 bathrooms!

I don't camp! My husband likes to walk mountain trails and look at rocks and flora and fauna. This year he decided Mt Rainier Sunrise entrance was our location. So I started looking for places to stay and found Alta Crystal. It was pricey, we had to prepay and even though they strongly suggested trip insurance, I got busy and forgot to buy it, so I hoped for the best and got lucky! We made it.

Our room was on the bottom level. Kitchen, living room with satellite TV, WiFi, bedroom with comfortable bed and a nicely done bathroom. Very nice soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and hair dryer! The only problem was we could hear the footsteps and jumping children in the upstairs unit.

We joined them for their BBQ twice since the cost was cheaper than driving to Greenwater and I don't cook on vacation! The food was really good - even the one in the rain! Southerners beware - BBQ here is grilled hamburgers, salmon burgers, sausage, etc. with salad, potatoes chips and dessert plus beer, wine and soda. All delicious, just not pulled pork or beef :)

The longer we stayed, the more we appreciated the location with its proximity to White River, Sunrise and Chinook Pass. Paradise is a full hour away. Crystal Mountain Ski Resort is just around the corner.

The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a small, nicely stocked grocery as well. Overall, a very pleasant 5 nights at Mt. Rainier.

This is rated #1 for "Greenwater", but it is probably the best place anywhere close to the National Park. It is not perfect, but it is as good as it gets. We stayed in the Honeymoon cabin, which was nice because it was raining and we were able to just stay there and eat in the cabin and not have to drive to Crystal Mountain to eat. The outdoor hot tub is very nice and we enjoyed it in spite of the weather. The internet was very spotty, but its a satellite system and to be honest with the mountains and cloud cover we had no cell service and our GPS lost its satellite. The TV worked and was decent. Good thing we did not want to grill (charcoal, not gas) and we were disappointed that we didn't get to enjoy our patio or balcony.

Every hotel is unique given its surroundings. I stayed at the Four Seasons downtown but this is where you come to experience natural beauty. I really liked the Lodge for its updated amneties and the rooms are suites complete with kitchen area (complete with dish soap to clean all of the dishes they provide if you cook a full meal) with seperate bedroom and bathroom. A real working fire place complete with cut wood. They do the small things.

Perfect for a small family or a couples get away.

For out of towners...it's nessled away (30 min drive) from grocery shopping in enumclaw. Surrounding dining options will be either at the Ski area at Crystal Mountain or in the town of Green Water (diners).
