“had a great time at the alta crystal”
Reviewed 24 August 2004

Had a great time at the alta crystal. The bonfires were great. cooking facilities were really helpful, because there are no close restaurants. Buy groceries before you get near the park in a large town. lots of hiking around the area. Staff were really helpful. no laundry facilities.

We just got back from a weekend at the Alta Crystal resort and had a great time. I chose the Alta Crystal because of the kid friendly amenities. We have an 18 month old and I knew he would not enjoy spending the entire day hiking and sight-seeing. The Alta Crystal has a great pool that is heated to a comfortable temperature so you can play for a long time. I also liked the kitchens and BBQ facilities - makes traveling with young kids much easier when you can arrange your own meals. The units were very clean and had all the kitchen items you would need. They obviously take great pride in the resort - even the outdoor BBQs were cleaned each day. They also have groceries for sale (and at reasonable prices) - very convenient for things you forgot or extra food. Sunrise in Mount Rainier is about a 30 minute drive but I believe the Alta Crystal is the closest hotel (there is camping closer) so it is easy to beat the crowds. Note that you are in the forest so you cannot actually see Mount Rainier from the hotel. I would highly recommend this resort to families.
