I spent the weekend at Gwinganna for a heart and health stay. The seminars by Sydney neurologist and cardiology specialists were fantastic. Very informative and more about prevention of these diseases and good life style choices. The whole Gwinganna experience is about being good to yourself and thinking about what you do to your body. The emphasis on eating well and exercise is the main aim of your stay. Start your day with Qi Gong (similar to Tai Chi). This is done with a gorgeous view at 615am in winter and much earlier in the summer to see the sun rise. After Qi Gong there are organised walks on the grounds of Gwinganna. A delicious breakfast awaits you after your morning walk. There are more exercise choices available after breakfast, Yin and Yang depending on your own energy levels. Plenty of options available as well as use of the gym, spa and heated pools. Everything is optional so if you choose not to do anything then that's okay.
All meals are communal and only dinner is on a seating plan which you can also select if you have made friends. This place is perfect to go with or without friends. I went alone and really enjoyed meeting people from all over Australia and New Zealand.
All meals are delicious if you like healthy food. Plenty of homegrown fruit and vegetables which are used in daily dishes. The tahini balls and date slices are to die for. Chicken quinoa sang choi bow delicious.
The spa treatment options are endless. Massages are all great, my hydrating facial was very relaxing and my skin felt great afterwards. They have the most detailed spa menu I have ever seen. The steam room is gorgeous and your skin feels great after a session.
Accommodation is all very nice. I stayed in a villa with a plunge pool which was heated at 30 degrees and had the most amazing view.
This is a well run resort.
Kay was our weekend manager and she was very informative and involved at all times.
I thoroughly enjoyed eating pure food and inhaling that gorgeous fresh air.
This is a great place if you need to get back on track with your diet or make a lifestyle change. It's also good if you feel the need to reconnect as it can be spiritual if that's what you are after.
I can't wait to go back in the summer and spend the afternoon relaxing on the pool deck after a treatment.
I wish I had longer than a weekend to stay at Gwinganna but it was enough to feel some benefit of all the good food, treatments and relaxation.
Thanks you Gwinganna, I will be back!
