My partner and I dine here most Sundays due to the exceptional service and food quality. Both waitresses are attentive and polite. All meat is cooked to perfection and the landlord is as welcoming as they come. We will be continuing to visit of the foreseeable future and we are looking forward to the Christmas menu.

Reviewed 28 October 2013

Dog not allowed in so had to sit in rain outside with a beer and a bag of crisps after walking 2 miles uphill from B&B. Didnt serve meal on a sunday evening??? thats a first. Went to The Unicorn instead for rest of the week and had fantastic food and atmosphere.

“Pub grub at its worst!”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

My amiable nonagenarian mother will never say a bad word without good reason and on this occasion she was unstoppable, the food was appalling. We have no objection to waiting in anticipation of good food and were not phased when warned about a likely delay due to under-staffing and the added Tuesday workload catering for a pensioner's special of pea and ham soup and roast beef. We chose "cod and chips" and "chef's pie of the day" from the a'la carte menu. We formed the opinion that the cod came straight from the freezer and was on the verge of being chucked in the bin; the batter was greasy and of a dark-colour that suggested it had been fried more than once; the chips were of the supermarket variety and soggy; and the chef's pie contained little identifiable taste other than an massive overdose of gravy browning.

“a bit pricey for what we ate”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

We had a meal for 4 on Saturday evening in the restaurant, I was disappointed in the portion size of the steak I ordered, as 2 were two other diners and there were far too many chips to accompany it. A friend had the plaice which was the best meal of the four, beautifully cooked with a good sauce. Calamiri starter was nothing special. Deserts ok. Overall the meal was average and a bit pricy for was it was. The waitress service was excellent.

“Friendly pub with good food”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

Friendly Landlord/Lady and staff. Decent quality pub food. Real ale pub but only 2 pumps on when we visited so not much variety.
