“Its a very tough climb out”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

A wonder of this world. Its cool down there but you will work up some heat as you walk paths and climb/descend stairs in this unbelievable work of nature.
Formed over millions of years by an river that appears on the surface several times only to pop up miles away. The final public underground cavern would easily hold a nuclear aircraft area. The climb out is an experience best saved for a cool day. Good news is that there is Gelato at the top!

“Quite difficult to find but lovely walk”
Reviewed 10 August 2013

This was difficult to find but if you just follow your nose as you drive through the small town you eventually end up in a car park. Expensive to park compared to other places in Slovenia (1.50Euros per hour) and you paid again to enter the Gorge walk further up the path. Lots of different paths to follow with little signage in English so we took a gamble and luckily chose the right path. This seemed to be the lower path from the signpost behind the cleanest portaloo I have ever seen. Walk is through woods and you don't actually get to see much of the river as the gorge is so deep. We preferred Vintgar Gorge near Bled but this is a pleasant two hour walk with some quite steep bits. Wear good shoes and take money to buy food and drink at the hut before the waterfall walk.

“A beautiful walk”
Reviewed 7 August 2013

A beautiful walk along the river Mostnica leading through the forest. There are some beautiful spots like "Slonče" (a small elephant in Slovenian) which is worth taking a picture. The river provides fresh and cold air which is very pleasant on a hot summer day.
I definitely recommend visiting this beautifiul place early in the morning (let´s say you get off at 7am) as there are NO tourists and you can enjoy the atmosphere just for yourself. Even the fee collectors are not at work yet so you can save some money as well:-)
It is definitely not a difficult hike, so I am sure even small kids (6 or 7 years) will make it.

“A hidden gem!”
Reviewed 9 October 2012

If you visit Slovenia and are in the surrounding areas of Lake Bohinj , then a visit to the Mostnice Gorge is a must! Especially for nature lovers! The hike takes about 1-2 hours depending on your fitness levels and also the time you have. Its a quite comfortable hike and involves very little steps thus making it less strenous. But the beauty of it will leave you feeling refreshed and calmed. The gorge can be visited from the lovely little village of Stara Fuzina (where we stayed during our Slovenia trip). The most famous sites in the gorge are 1) Hudicev Most (The Devil's Bridge)
2) Sloncek (Little Elephant Arch)
The water is an unbelievable emerald green color and since we were here at the start of autumn...the green contrasted with the reds and yellows of the trees, thus making it a sight to behold! A paradise for Photography enthusiasts..:)
