We had a wonderful stay at Chateau Charly - the room was very comfortable, the chateau cosy in the awful rain. Anna really looked after us - thank you. We would have loved to have stayed longer and will definitely come again!!! Thank you for the egg Nancy!!!

If you like coming back from holidays completely relaxed and stress free then this is the place to go. From the minute you arrive in this beautiful chateau you will feel the outside world fade away, and you can pass the hours sitting on the lawns or by the quiet pool, reading in the library or just relaxing in one of the very tastefully designed drawing rooms. You can take pleasant drives through the French countryside to vineyards, historical castles, and beautiful gardens dating back centuries. Paul (the owner) can recommend the best restaurants in the area, or you can eat in the dining room with other guests. It really is the perfect place to get away, and knowing that you are directly helping the two charities Paul is involved with is an added bonus. We had a wonderful 4 days there, the only downside being it passed too quickly!! This will definitely become a regular getaway. Many thanks to Anna and Paul for all their kindness.

Chateau Charly is one of those gorgeous gems that you come across every once in a while, but that you never forget! We stayed for two weeks in August with friends and family. We have a 5 year old, a 2 year old and a 1 year old.

Upon arrival, you drive in through the walled entrance, and the driveway curls through the trees, giving you seductive glimpses of the beautiful white walled chateau. It doesn't disappoint once you get closer, in fact it is magnificent.

Once inside the beauty of each of the rooms strikes you. There has been a real attention to detail with all of the decoration and furniture. The bedrooms are all beautifully brought together with huge bathrooms, providing both walk in showers and a large tub to soak in the atmosphere.

Anna cooked beautiful cakes and apple pies (with apples fresh from the orchard). She was amazingly cheerful and helpful (doing all of our ironing - huge bonus!!)

The pool was well-used, a lovely temperature, and fabulous to lie next to soaking up the warm summer sun.

Many an hour was spent outside in the amazing grounds, having a BBQ, having a picnic, jogging round the 32 acres or just taking the kiddiwinks for a stroll pre-bedtime. We spent a day at "Le Pal", a fantastic theme park with both animals and amazing rides about a 45 minute drive away. Such a great day out with the family. (The only down side was that the little ones U2's couldn't go on any of the rides - but the huge number of different animals gave them something to look at too.)

Sancerre is about a 35 - 40 minute drive away. So we popped over one afternoon, for a wander around the lovely town, and to go wine tasting. The wine was, as expected, delicious!

Jean-Pierre, the award winning chef cooked for us one evening - teaching us some beautiful french recipes.

All in all this is a very special place, within minutes of arrival you can feel the stresses and strains of everyday life ebb away, leaving a lovely relaxing feeling that sinks right to your bones.

Paul & Anna well done! We would definitely recommend this Chateau to everyone, and we will certainly return again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Charly Suite, boasting an enormous 4 poster bed. It has a very sumptuous and luxuri...

Chateau Charly was perfect in every way. Paul (Solly) the owner was the perfect host and Anna was a delightful cook come housekeeper! They make the perfect combination for owning and hosting a very special place to stay for anyone looking for a relaxing break but with plenty to do in the near area. The pool is a great place to spend the late afternoon after a day of site seeing and wine tasting.
Paul recommends the best places to visit, all of which were superb and not to be missed. This area is a real hidden gem, don't overlook Chateau Charly and the region when organizing holiday, no wonder this place has a 5 star B&B rating!
Thanks Team Charly, see you next year!

Chateau Charly is absolutely beautiful- every where you look there is something to feast your eyes on. We stayed for a week with friends, and were so sad when it was over. We had lazy afternoons by the pool, picked delicious plums from the orchard, played pool in the local bar until 2 am, and had a final dinner party by candlelight, prepared in the Chateau kitchen by an award winning chef. My 6 year old daughter loved weeding the garden with the ever-cheerful Anna, and my 3 year old roamed the grounds loving the independence. The whole thing was a dream. I am kind of wondering if I made it all up.

You guessed it, we want to go back so badly. Such a chilled pace of life at Charly. Fab hosts, fab food, fab wine, fab rooms, fab pool & fab location. Our second visit, where all of our party, took all the rooms for the week.
We wished for a BBQ last year and it appeared this year, thanks Sully, man cook food for ladies !
We must get to little pub on the corner next year, it looks fab also.
If you need to chill from a fast pace of life, Charly is for you.
See you August 2014. xx

Just back from a wonderful break at Chateau Charly, our second visit in as many years. We're not usually ones for returning to the same place year after year, but Charly has a way of drawing you back. Anna, Sarah and Solly are such wonderful hosts and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The chateau itself is beautifully decorated with gorgeous, generously sized en suite bedrooms. We stayed in "Torteval" this year which has lovely views over the rear gardens. The grounds are beautifully kept, including a vegetable garden, which provided us with delicious fresh fare at evening meals. Many happy hours were spent lazing around the outdoor pool with Anna's magic mojitos or Sarah's prize-winning homemade sloe gin & tonics! Needless to say we're already planning next year's trip. Thank you Solly, Anna and Sarah.
