“The worst experience ever”

I have been staying at Delta Marina ** during this summer (14- 21 of July, 2014). If you are planning a nice vacation here, if you would like to have a good night sleep or a nap during the day, Delta Marina is definitely not the place. The construction of the building, although new, is made of very low quality materials. The main problem is with the very thin walls, made of polystyrene, that offer no phonic insulation at all. Basically, I could hear absolutely everything that was going on on the hallway, in the room next to me, in the room upstairs, in the room below my room. A nightmare! No privacy whatsoever.
Please, also take into consideration that your sleep may be interrupted by the fishermen that would wake you up at 3 o clock in the morning when they go fishing, or at 5 thirty in the morning, by the sound of the trolley as people are leaving for the ship. And this happens every night. Please, do yourselves a favor and avoid, saty away from this place. You will regret this as I do.

Room Tip: Please, avoid this hotel.

A nice location in a very poor village, having an inadequate management.
The accommodation is decent, the three stars of the guests house being justified in this respect. It is clean and the service is OK, with enough employees, unfortunately, not very helpful.
Briefly I don't recommend the location and I need to add that one of the biggest mistakes is to try to eat fish there, even you are in an area where this is the basic food.
The restaurant looks nice but it is very poor, pizza and pasta cannot be served for various reasons, you have no option for sweets, etc. The best foods that you could order are something of pork grilled and the beans soup, but these are not characteristics for the the Danube Delta where you expect to eat fish in various forms.
If you want to come in Sfantu Gheorghe, my recommendation is to try a little bit harder to find other location there, even the guest houses are hard to be found on Booking.com or on your regular web sites, but for sure you will have the benefit of a better treatment at significant lower prices.
At Delta Marina the employees cannot decide nothing, for any move you will need to ask for permissions, basically you are not allowed to do nothing without owner's approval. More of this, the location management is hostile to guests, while the employees do their best to satisfy both the clients and the manager, but of course, the boss is the boss.
If you like the feeling to be hunted, this is the place to go.
You will have also long and annoying discussions to solve the idea that, if you arrived there, you are their prisoner. The manager has only one idea: it is mandatory for you to pay everything they want to charge you as extra money.
E.g. after you will arrive there, you will find that the price of 130 lei per night discussed initially and officially shown at the reception, becomes 140 lei during weekend, which strangely, is of three nights. I am not very sure that you will convince your boss to give you three days of weekend based on their dreams.

Ive been staying at Green Village Hotel, but because i wanted to change a bit the food and the enviroment i decided to eat at Delta Marina restaurant! Well...wrong wrong but totally wrong decision!!!why do I say this?
1. I wanted a certain type of beer (that appearedin the menu): no they did not have it. oki.......
2. I wanted pizza: The oven was not ready still, so no pizza was avaible . okii ...
3 I wanted bolognese pasta: the bolognese sauce wasnt ready still, only Milanese pasta if im okit with it.. ...
4. Let's get to dessert: tiramisu: the rum wasnt soaked enough in the countertop... whhhhaattt?? I ordered a cheesecake. I waited 45 minutes to get food : cold pasta ... in fish: carp , even if ive asked for catfish, and the candy on the cake: after we finished to eat, the waiter told us that they had done only apple cake........! Do not ever go to this restaurant! Its a shame of restaurant!!!!!!

If you want to see the place where the Danube river meet the Black Sea is your perfect destination. The only way to arrive there is by water. This is a fishman village and the people are very good in fish cuisine.
You can go with little boat to see the birds reservation on the river, or just swimming on the sea

After a 1hr motor-boat ride from mainland, Murighiol, we arrived at the Delta Marina Hotel in Sfantul Gheorghe (St George). We were a small group, 3 families with a total of 4 kids (6 to 9 years old). It is a small village on the water, with easy access to boats and the many lakes, channels and swamp lands that open up to the Black Sea.
The village is typical with dirt roads, friendly stray dogs, cows, horses and frogs. Very few cars on the island.
The hotel is clean and at fair priced for what is offers. The immediate surroundings are not as green as I had hoped but it is right on the dock.
At the time of our stay the cook was great and so was the waiter. They really tried to be helpful and service oriented. The fish was good, try the storceag soup- it was fantastic & so was the saramura, a typical dish in the region.
The rooms are of decent size, the furniture bare but new, no black-out curtains but cable TV with plenty of channels to choose from. There are rooms available with 2 double beds and so we comfortably had our two kids (6&7year olds) sharing the room with us.
This was not our first time visiting the region and this particular hotel exceeded our expectations. They arranged for boat trips with friendly captains too. We saw various birds including storks and cormorans, pelicans, etc. You can also adventure to the beach by walking through shallow swamps, the kids got a real kick out of the 2km (or so) walk! Do expect to carry your flip-flops, it gets mushy!
We were here on Orthodox Easter and participated in the festivities, attending midnight mass and the procession around the church, a bit different than in other regions in Romania.
All in all a good place to stay and fairly priced with employees that try to make your stay a pleasant one.
Some issues with hot water in the morning and rooms weren't serviced so well on a daily basis, though we didn't have an issue with that. Breakfast limited, I am sure that if you ask for something specific they would try to accommodate your demands. I was fasting for Easter and the cook prepared a great pasta dish, ad-hoc.
Enjoy the Delta!

Stayed here Sept 10, 11, 2012 - A comfortable, clean, and convenient location to use as a base to explore the Delta. Right at the mouth of the south branch of the Danube River where it meets the Black Sea, Sf. Gheorghe, is a town whose residents all rely on the River or the Black Sea either directly or indirectly --- fishermen, tourism, and some limited farming are the drivers of the economy. The Delta Marina has a variety of room options, bar/restaruant, dock/marina services, patio/terrace, wi-fi internet, and friendly staff.
