“Wonderful!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

Really enjoyed the Bonnie View Inn when we stayed last summer (yes just getting to the review now!) Staff really go the extra mile, beach area is well maintained. Nice gardens and the volleyball court was well kept too!

Stayed in the honeymoon suite though, and it could definitely use a new shade of paint! Very dark mustard colour :( ... not so romantic! I would have thought that as the honeymoon suite, this suite in particular would have been very lovely...but the colour was a bit odd. Would be an amazing suite if it was re-painted (looks as though renovations were going on this spring, so maybe it has been repainted?!)

Room Tip: Waterfront rooms! Honeymoon suite is an odd mustard colour though, perhaps it will be re-painted

Stayed at the Bonnie View Inn (Chalet #3) from June 30 - July 2. Our chalet was a good size with two bedrooms (comfortable beds!), small fridge, satellite TV and WiFi. Staff was exceptional, even bringing us umbrellas to the chalet on the first night so we didn't get wet walking to the main house for dinner in the pouring rain! Whatever you needed, the staff was there to accommodate. Haven't seen that kind of customer service in a very long time! Food was amazing, with lots of options for both breakfast and dinner. Would love to see them add eggs benedict to the breakfast menu tho!!! Main house offers a large Great Room complete with lots of space to relax, play board games or a game of pool. Hundreds of movies are available to borrow and there are DVD players in every room. Property is beautiful and the lake is clean with lots of water toys, a trampoline and water slides to keep the kids busy. Parking lot was full, but the resort never seemed crowded as the property is so large. A very enjoyable getaway for both families and couples of all ages. The owner Andrea is second to none and this resort is clearly a labour of love for her and her family. We would definitely return!!

We stayed at Bonnie View for a family wedding and were extremely impressed with the Staff, food, and overall atmosphere of the property!. We stayed in a lakeside suite and were more than pleased with the bed and wonderful new walk -in shower in the bathroom. Friends stayed in chalet 2 which had two bedrooms, lovely bathroom and sitting room at the front complete with fireplace. Both couples noted their beds were very comfortable and the living room had ample room to entertain themselves and another couple. The staff bent over backwards to help guests both during the Friday dinner hour, Saturday and Sunday breakfast hours and most definitely throughout the course of Saturday evenings' wedding. Bar Staff were quick, happy, and helpful. The food served during the wedding was truly delicious. We have already started to make plans for a reunion. Bonnie View has rustic charm and we heard that throughout our weekend there.
Again we cannot say enough about the whole staff at Bonnie View. Well done!

We stayed at the resort for three days towards the end of June and enjoyed ourselves very much.
Our room, a "Lakeside Suite" was amazing and well equipped. They must have been renovated the units just a while ago. Modern LCD TV plus up-to-date entertainment equipment helped us pass the day when it was rainy. Free WiFi was available as well. The King size bed was brand new and the sleep comfort was top notch. The chefs did an amazing job. Excellent culinary creations which were tremendously enjoyed by us. Front desk and dining room staff was very professional and a pleasure to be around. Being an avid gardener I really enjoyed the landscaping and the tastefully arranged gardens. With the provided firewood we created the most amazing bonfire down at the beach where some of the other guests joined us for a nice chat. Well, to sum up the whole experience: terrific place, good food, excellent staff and an owner who is willing to go the extra mile to please the customers.

Room Tip: Lakeside suites for couples and self contained cottages for families

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful the Bonnieview is. The owner Andrea puts her blood, sweat, tears, passion and LOVE into this place. The service is unmatched. Every staff member is determined that every guest have the best experience possible. The Bonnieview is rustic charm meets 5 star dining. This is a cottage vacation without any of the hardwork. Everything is at your fingertips and the food is to die for. There is swimming, canoes, kayaks, fishing, paddleboats, campfires and so much more all included. You can also pay a little extra and learn to waterski or wakeboard.
I first visited last year for my brother's wedding (he and his wife go at least twice a year) and couldn't wait to come back for the "real thing".

Room Tip: They have a variety of rooms/cabins to choose from depending on your price point and how many people...

We visited the Bonnie View the first weekend of June for a family wedding; and it was a pleasant surprise in several ways.
Situated on a pristine haliburton lake; it is the epitome (to me) of true north Canadian charm.....including the black flies and mosquitos which actually weren't too bad!
We had Chalet # 6, which was ample enough with a separate bedroom and fireplace in the living área. Both #5 and #7 are larger for those who require more bedrooms. Chalets are rustic but comfortable.
Next door to house (#5) were a bunch of party goers - but we never Heard a thing with the Windows closed.
The restaurant has excellent food with a very generous breakfast serving.
You can find what is onsite at Bonnie View's web page; but what you will not find is the way that the entire staff are ready and willing to help in any way, while genuinely being happy to do so.
The Inn is located a 5 minute rive from the town of haliburton and also the local grocery store.
The fact that the Bonnie View required some minor upkeep kept me from scoring it 5/5.
A great place to stay in summer and fall; and I hope some day to return to visit to experience the Winter charm.
Great place!

Room Tip: The romos in the Inn were large with queen beds; but to really enjoy the experience - best to stay i...

Bonnie View really does deserve a very good rating, however our recent experience was hampered by a terrible sleep experience (or lack thereof). We stayed in a Lakeside suite, which was beyond our expectations, in terms of look and view. There was a King size bed and a Queen pull out couch, we later learned that both were incredibly uncomfortable. The sofa bed had an obvious downward angle to it and the bed was even worse. Upon further visual inspection, the matress/boxspring appeared to be well past the point of replacement. As it turns out, sleep was not on the menu for the night anyway. There was a couple staying in the suite below us that decided that 1 am was a good time for a drunken domestic dispute. It got so bad I had to call the Innkeeper - it woke myself, my husband and our son. Understandably, the Inn can not be held responsible for this disruption, but the Innkeeper was incredibly apologetic and did comp us somewhat for the inconvenience of the noise. The wood burning fireplace in the unit was also a lovely touch. While we did enjoy a fire, although it looked as though several more were enjoyed before us. The ash in the fireplace had really piled up. Now for the good stuff! The Innkeeper and staff were all incredibly delightful. The grounds are lovely and the food is fantastic. The value here is amazing! We would love to come back, but the first thing I'll be inquiring about in the future is the age of the beds.
