Reviewed 20 June 2014

Owners Nicole and Joselyn have done an incredible job of restoring some real character filled historic homes in Haileybury. They have thought of all the details right down to the art that hangs on the walls. If you are looking for more than just a bed, want to entertain, have a family reunion or are part of a group, their houses are perfect. I stayed in the Prospector's House for a business trip and it was exceptional.

Room Tip: Ask the hosts what room is best for your needs.

Thank you Chris for taking the time to share your experience at the Prospectors' House. We've spent a lot of time to work with local artist in order to tell the story of mining during the silver rush in Cobalt. I'm glad you enjoyed those pieces.

We're also very pleased that the environment permitted you to create a poem for us. We like your idea of developing a contest from the drawings or poems that people leave on our huge paper roll!

Have a great Summer.

620 Lakeshore property. Repurposed older house (100 yrs??). All amenities modernized. Beautifully designed and very clean. "Extras" available - food in fridge, canoes and bikes to explore, hot tub, full kitchens with dishes and appliances, fresh pastries dilivered in the mornings. Has access to lakefront (rocky shore - no beach. Must cross two-lane road to a access the lake). Beautiful gardens and lawns, veranda on 1st level, overlookling lake. Picturesque views.

1st and 2nd levels have shared bathrooms and common lounge and kitchen areas. Would recommend for those who want to socialize and/or entertain. 3rd level has one bed and at least one additional pull-out bed. Would recommend 3rd level for one couple who want a peaceful trip, or several people who don't mind sharing "open plan" space and bathroom. 2nd and 3rd levels have balconies with tables and chairs.

Entertaining - we were there as part of a wedding group and had family groups staying in all levels of the property. It worked GREAT. Equipment, furniture and dishes were available on 1st level to serve dinner for 20+ people.

Kids - we did not have children on our trip. Due to nearby two-lane road and no fence on property, children would require adult supervision when outside. Bikes were available in children's sizes. Might recommend checking out one of the other President's Suites properties nearby, if travelling with children. (one of the other properties has beds in an attic room...).

Room Tip: There is a nearby two-lane road, so 1st level is slightly more noisy due to traffic. If very sensit...

Hi Andrea,

Thank you for taking the time to give such a great description of our property. Thanks for pointing out that our private dock /beach facility is on the other side of a busy road. Children definitely need to be accompanied to cross the road. The beach is rocky on the West side of the lake. However, if people are looking for a sandy beach, we are 5 minutes away from the public beach/water slide in Haileybury. We have recently acquired a private island that is situated at 30 minute paddle from the Suites and has a beautiful sandy beach. Guests are welcomed to use our kayaks and canoe to get to their island.

Hope to see you again for your next visit up North.

Nicole

I just came back from staying at the Guest house President Suites and I am amazed.
This is truly a gem and the owners have done a wonderful job.
From the welcoming words written for us, to the warm pastries in the morning, to the incredible view, this little vacation could not have been more perfect.
As soon as I entered the guest house, my husband, son and I felt at home. It is very cozy and comfortable. The beds are heavenly and the soaking tub is just perfect.
I would certainly recommend this place to family and friends.
Thank you Nicole for the wonderful experience. I hope to see you again very soon!

We were three couples on motor bikes and stayed at this wonderful inn for a few nights. Owners couldnt do enough. They gave us a personal walking tour of Haileybury. Town as little night life, restaurants but we were there for a good nights rest after our day trips on our bike,
Definitely will return.....

Room Tip: Rooms on main floor very convenient.

My husband and I stayed 3 nites at Nicole and Jocelyn's wonderfully spic-and-span clean, 2 story 2 bedroomed guest house. Fantastic view of the lake, a beautiful outside deck w/ BBQ, peaceful, quiet street. The home itself has every convenience. I laughed as they've thought about everything - if there was a question about how to operate something, they was a label on the wall providing the directions. Built in 1926 and lovingly renovated and restored, with coffered dining room ceiling, a most marvelous sun porch, gumwood trim, wonderful thick wood doors and window seats, modern bathrooms (and for kichen freaks like us, a fully stocked kitchen with every gadget, new pots and pans and modern appliances) and a fridge full of breakfasts!!! The morning croissants/breads/muffins left on front porch were the icing on the cake. For total privacy (and for folks that don't necessarily want to eat breakfasts with the owners) this is the place to stay.

Thank you for the great review and the wonderful writing on the description of the house. We try to stock the kitchen well and always take ideas from our clients on what could be added. Hope to have a chance to meet you longer on your next visit.

We stayed at Les Suites with family over the August long weekend and were thoroughly pleased. The old historically house is separated into three very large suites - very large. You have tons of room to relax overlooking the lake. You can grab a canoe, kayak or paddle board to take in Lake Temiskaming and then come back to rest in the hot tub. I would strongly recommend the place. No one should hesitate to stay here if you are in town for a few days. No other location compares.

My wife and I spent three days in the "cottage" (actually a cozy two-bedroom house). The accommodation was immaculate, the view was breathtaking, and Jocelyn and Nicole looked after our every need. We awakened each morning to freshly baked muffins quietly left in our kitchen - hard to beat that! We would return in a heartbeat. Can't say enough about the cottage or the hosts.

Room Tip: If you want privacy and a secluded spot, ask for the cottage.
