Our friends surprised us with dinner at the Gasthof Old Bavarian for our 25th anniversary. OMG! This was the best German food of any type I have ever had. The portions are ridiculous. 2 people could easily share one plate and be stuffed. They use their own raised meats, and their own grown vegetables. Totally farm to table.. Absolutely delicious! Remember to make reservations as they are only open Friday, Saturdays and Sundays.

The best "German Food" one can find in New Brunswick.
The family are so kind and caring about the food and preparing it for you.
The portions are huge.
We often divide a platter and still have plenty to enjoy.
The desserts are awesome.
It is always best to make reservations as it is a busy spot.
And by the way the drive is through beautiful countryside.

We heard about this place and met friends from St John for dinner on Saturday night. We had never been, it is literally in the middle of nowhere.

Incredibly friendly staff, great beer while we waited for our table to be ready, potato pancakes were amazing as an appetizer, our dinner partners had the sausage platter.

Our main meals were a couple of different Snitczel dishes, roast pork and a chicken entree.

Desert was a chocolate cake, a raspberry fondue, both fantastic.

Just an amazing evening, dinner for four with appetizers, Mains, desert and beer $250 cdn including a well deserved big tip.

A few things, on a weekend make sure you call ahead and they only take cash.

My mom and I ate here last summer. From Moncton, we travelled through Corn Hill... the rolling hills are something to behold, a truly breathtaking view! We each had the Bavarian Schnitzel, which is a breaded and fried pork cutlet. It came with spaetzle, a red cabbage slaw, and a tomato salad with a creamy/savory dressing. I love savory dishes and I LOVED this meal, everything was delicious. We also sampled some German Erdinger beer. At the table next to us, someone ordered the pork hocks, and they looked good...I overheard the customer say she orders those every time. (maybe that's what we'll try on our next visit).
On our way out, we stopped at the butcher shop for some bratwurst and knackwurst, which we enjoyed the next day :)

Every summer we have dinner here with friends at least once. And every time, we drive along the undistinguished country roads, seeing nothing but an occasional house or barn along the way, until we're sure that somehow we've taken a wrong turn because we should be there by now. And suddenly we come around a turn and see this beautiful place, as if dropped from a Bavarian postcard, with a wide green lawn in front of it and a view for miles -- takes our breath away, every time.

No matter how long since our last visit, Claudia always remembers us, and she and the staff could not possibly be more friendly and helpful. As far as the actual meal, we've worked our way through every selection and everything is excellent. Quantity and quality are both off the charts, and the extensive wine list including German (and local) beers make for a memorable evening. Save room for dessert because everything is homemade and it would be a shame to miss out.

After you leave, full and happy, it's a strange shock to emerge into the rural New Brunswick countryside again. Surreal, but delicious and worth every penny -- in cash, that is, as that's all they accept!
