We stayed at the motel for 5 days which included breakfast. We also had 2 evening meals there. The food was good. Portions good. But the place had a lot of flies. They were very busy all the time. Waitresses friendly. But the service was very slow.

BLUF: as one of the few sit down area restaurants , they seem to thrive in spite of their mediocrity. We passed thru Sussex proper looking for a local place and had given up when we saw JJ's. The buffet was alright, I think the pasta salad was the only thing they made, everything else tasted prepacked. The chicken tenders were the typical tasteless variety. There is lots of seating but still I would have ridden a bit farther in hindsight. It is expensive for what we had and was a chore to get back on the highway westbound.

My friends and I have breakfast there several times a week. The food is good although not exciting. Depending on who is cooking, the portion sizes vary. The desserts (as others have pointed out) are excellent!
The service is excellent as well with friendly waitresses - like Cheers, where everybody knows your name!

We have been here a few times. It's basically what you would expect...a very old fashioned 50's diner with typical burgers and fries and shakes. I've had the burgers a few times. They are good....not great, but good. Really the main attraction at this place are the shakes and the desserts, as people have mentioned. The coconut cream pie is awesome! Overall a fun spot. You probably won't want to go here every week, but once in a while (maybe once a year) it's a good change of pace.
