“Good value if you don't mind the location”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

We read the range of reviews here and our expectations were pretty low. But we were struggling to get a place to stay and we desperately needed somewhere so we could attend a family funeral. The bad news is the location, especially if you don't have your own transport. It's a very long way from everything and even the Sky Train station is about 15 minutes away.

The good news is that it's excellent value. We were greeted by friendly staff, our room was clean and big and quiet, (except for the air/conditioning!) and the price was remarkably good. This isn't a luxury hotel - it has the basics and no frills but the standard was good for the price.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second level towards the back are quieter and feel more private.

We weren't sure what to expect, especially considering this hotel was half the price of the cheapest places in the area but gave it a try because everything was booking up. If you are looking for fancy amenities, don't go here but if you are looking for a clean, comfortable place to spend a couple nights at a great rate, this is your place. We did not have an ice bucket or plastic cups but went to the office and they found some for us right away. Also had trouble with the internet and the desk clerk actually worked with my netbook to solve the problem. It ended up that I had to make some changes on my computer .... their internet was fine. Also, the train station that takes you into Vancouver is four blocks away. PERFECT!

Sometimes you just don't feel at home in a motel, and in this motel it sure was the case! The manager wasn't exactly friendly in the first place, so I wasn't too. Anyway, the rooms aren't much to start with, no coffemaker, and the wifi didn't work. So I went back to the front desk to file a complaint, turned out it worked fine there! Well, you don't have to be a computer expert to know that one of the routers was busted. But instead of offering us an other room, he said that if we had urgent business on the Internet, we could use the lobby. I declined, and we worked from the balcony in reach of a not malfunctioning router.
Back to the room, the ac was noisy, and it wasn't exactly clean. I would pass this one.

We stayed here for a shopping and sightseeing trip for three days. We like cooking in our room and the full sized fridge made storing our groceries really convenient. The location is very good for getting to shopping centers, skytrain or driving to the US border or Richmond.

Room Tip: some kitchenette rooms have full sized fridges.

My mum and I had the worst experience here. We stayed for 3 nights and our rooms were never cleaned for all 3 nights sheets and towels were never changed, and garbage was never taken out. On the second night we finally complained to the manager on duty and his next question made me boil over with anger he asked what I wanted him to do about it I was disgusted! And after few words of exchange which included me telling the so called hotel manager what needed to be done to a dirty hotel room I stormed out with not as much as an apology for the disgusting state of our room. Am never ever coming back!!!!!!

Booked 2 rooms for family - both rooms had disgustingly dirty, unchanged sheets - hairs, stains, yellow - dirty rugs. Missing bulb in one lamp and the other room bulb was burned out. Toiletries are old wrinkled shampoo packs from 70's stock and towels smelled simply run through rinse. I checked in at such a late hour, with 5 young children, that we took our lumps and a very slight discount - he thought generous. We've travelled extensively and this is the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in - STAY AWAY!!!

Sorry we didn't check this motel out a little more closely... Our room was disgusting !! We were very tired when we checked in, otherwise, we would have left as soon as we saw where we were going to spend the night !! It was filthy, smelly, and would NOT recommend this to anyone. Most motels and hotels were fully booked, otherwise we would have stayed somewhere else. It gives me the creeps to even THINK about our horrible experience at Grouse Creek Motel !!! Stay away !!

Room Tip: Maybe some of the rooms have been redone, so if you DO stay here, ask for a renovated room.
