My wife and I ate at Hooked Fish Bar, in Crescent Beach, the other day, and generally enjoyed the experience. It's a nice little place with a patio right on the ocean and has an appealing menu. Service was great but we only give it 4 stars because the fish tacos - which we both had - was short on fish and too heavy on cabbage. Otherwise they were great, with nice, soft corn tortillas and an excellent chipotle aioli, but they needed more fish.

The location is simply the best here as you can be practically right on the beach while dining in the outdoor area. Small indoor dining as well. Typical beachy type restaurant, with casual dining and very comfortable chairs with pads. Parking is challenging as there are only a few spots behind the restaurant, however the main street has some as well. The parking is all free. The cobb salad with shrimp was delicious with just the right amount of dressing, however the caesar salad was the worst we have ever eaten. The nicely chilled Beach House half litre of south African white wine was priced reasonably. Water is served cold in a wine bottle which adds a nice touch. Service was good, it was busy and our server was attentive. There are no heat lamps outside, however we noticed a cart which had some fashionably rolled blankets on them so were able to get 2. Would have given 4 stars, if not for the Caesar salad. We will go back as the location trumps all.

If you are tired of the battered greasy fish and chips then Hooked is your place. The oven baked is a much healthier option. And it's delicious without the sickly after feel. I recommend hooked with 2 thumbs up.

Location is the draw at this beach side restaurant but it gets very busy on sunny weekends and both the food and service can be hit or miss. We enjoyed the fish and chips although the fish arrived battered and deep fried instead of pan fried as we had ordered. We didn't send it back as we had waited long enough. The oyster po'boy was disappointing, soggy and difficult to eat. We wouldn't order it again. The place is a little messy but the service is cheerful and the prices reasonable. The free parking is a bonus as well. We'll probably give it another try when we're in the area.

I don't normally review local haunts and fish & chips are a personal taste. The fish here is cod and very fresh in a light tempura like batter with home cut fries. My place to go to on the beach and free parking unlike white rock which also has a decent F&C place. I have also had the pulled pork poutine here ,ecellent. Although it may seem disorganized we had excellent service last night and the place was busy, most outside tables were filled. Same owner as Sea Horse Grill
