“Rooms are a bit tired, Golf & Food are Great”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

Had golfed here numerous times, but hadn't stayed at the resort.

They couldn't find our reservation upon arriving -- and after 15 minutes they realized that they had us checking in on the day we were checking out.

There were 3 weddings the weekend that we were there, so all day Saturday, the restaurant was unavailable. We ate in the "Lobby Lounge". I expected some discount or some other concession for having to eat in a small, dingy space.

Too many little kids for our ears and temperament...

The food is a pleasant surprise. Breakfast and supper (x2) were great. Hot, fresh, and relatively inventive for small town PEI.

The rooms are comfortable, but very dated. The linens and curtains, and colour scheme are fresh and new, but the bathrooms are circa 1975.

The pool area is great and the hotel grounds are nicely kept.

Our reason for going was the golf course, which in my opinion is ONE OF THE BEST in the Maritimes. Challenging for golfers of every ability, great views, great condition, a lovely century house at the 10th hole turn, and wildlife galore. Price for golf is a steal, and we took advantage of their Christmas special. 11 out of 10 for golf.

Staff are pleasant and very helpful.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the golf course

We are a family of 4 and we all loved our journey at the Rodd Mill River. The kids enjoyed the Aquaplex, the Squash and Tennis court, while my wife and I played Golf. We stayed at the resort for 4 days and 3 nights and explored the western part of the island. After trying many restaurants, the Rodd gave us the best food and wine experience. The executive chef is a real chef and everytime we had a meal there, we saw him going to every tables to make sure everybody is happy. It was nice to finally have a fine dining experience on this side of the island. My son is allergic to soy and milk products and the chef came out with great meals ideas for him, very tasty and original. The waiting staff is also amazing and very nice. We enjoyed our room as well, which was a suite with the view of the golf court. Not as modern and updated as the other Rodds, but it's clean and has everything we need.

Room Tip: Ask for a superior room or a suite.

The best part of this resort is location. We enjoyed our drive around the less often explored western tip of PEI. We did not golf. Restaurant was gluten free friendly. Staff was friendly. Dining room over looks the golf course.

Nearby town of Alberton offered additional lodging which we didn't see till after checking in. Too bad. This place was so dated. Carpet on floor was very grundgy. Bathroom small and very retro in not a good way. Mattress was lumpy and pillows were disgusting. Furniture all worn and floor creeked badly. Maybe we got the broken room but I would rather have slept in the car! On the positive side restaurant, view and front desk staff all Excellent!

6 of us stayed May 16-18th for a golf weekend and all had an unbelievable time. The golf course was unreal, the food was delicious and the staff were amazing. Kevin at the front desk is the MAN! He treated us like kings, and dealt with any issues we had right away and made us feel at home. We will definitely return to Mill River for another great experience!

Room Tip: We had bottom floor, easy to walk out to the range, tennis courts etc. May need to ask for a fridge.

We visited Mill River over March break with our 3 kids. There were lots of great activities for the kids. Really family oriented. Staff was friendly and restaurant staff went out of their way to accomodate. They washed our baby's bottle twice a day, filled it with milk and brought it to our room at NO charge. They made our stay so easy. Service was really above and beyond expectations. The pool was not operational and they compensated us very fairly. There was so much to do that we didn't even miss the pool! We had so much fun and it was so affordable. We will definitely be back.

We just returned from spending 3 nights and we had a fabulous time! It totally exceeded our expectations on all levels. The staff were wonderful, especially in the restaurant where they remembered our preferences and took great care of us. The kids menu was great and we were pleased with the reasonable prices. Our room was clean and spacious, larger than I expected. Our 3 year old was treated like a prince. He loved the pool, the game room and the supervised play room for kids under 10 is fantastic! We skied, skated, tubed, swam. We are already planning next years trip, and I imagine it will be a yearly thing for years to come.
