Come Down and Meet the Friendliest Staff in town! New Look & New Attitude New Owners October 2015

We have been staying at the Rockyview Hotel since end of April and frequently eat our meals downstairs. The restaurant with its tin ceiling and the saloon with its 1920's carved wooden bar have a very cozy western ambiance. The deck has both sunny and shaded tables, and is a great place to enjoy a meal on a hot day.

The staff are super friendly and always attentive. The owners must screen new waitresses carefully, because they really do have "the friendliest staff in town"!

We like their homemade soups, burgers and hot turkey/beef sandwiches, and enjoy everything on their new breakfast menu. The prices are very reasonable.

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and we decided to go out for a nice steak dinner.It wasn't too busy when we arrived but it filled up fast.The waitress was alone and tried her best to keep every table happy.She said the menu was new and the prep cook was not helping or doing her job very well so the cook was overwhelmed as he had to service the bar as well as the restaurant alone.After a hasty start she finally went to get the manager who helped moved things alone.The chili was excellent the vegetables were not.The salad was crispy and fresh and the steak done perfect but the fries were gross.I was disappointed and I probably would not return to this resturaunt.

Although the server was nice, it couldn't make up for the poor quality food and service. All the dishes we ordered, the Liver and Onions, the Chicken Breast Burger and the special of the day, a hot Chicken sandwich, were well below par. We waited an hour for the food only to leave most of the food on our plates. The server noticed and didn't say or do anything when we said we didn't want wrapped up, a clear sign they are used to having customers not finish their food. What a disappointment! I'm writing this so you can keep walking when you see this restaruant and try a better one down the street.

We recently discovered this restaurant in the hotel on Main Street in Cochrane. The first time we went there it was on a week day, and not super busy. We ate in the restaurant, not the bar. The food was delicious, nicely served, the waitresses were friendly, efficient and gave good service and we really enjoyed our meal. Also, the hotel goes back to the early 1900's and the furnishings all date back to that time. They even have an ancient player piano! The ceiling is the old embossed type, and the atmosphere takes you back to days gone by. It is a charming place.

We went a second time on a Friday for supper, and would not go on a Friday again. They had some specials on, the place was packed and people came and left due to the wait, and the cooks must have been super rushed as the food was not so good that time. We would definitely go back, but not on a Friday.

On impluse checked out the Texas Gate Bar & Grill for lunch on a Friday at 12:30.
It was all good; our server Ali was prompt, courteous and very friendly.
Ambience was great, sat on the patio on a nice sunny afternoon.
I had the clubhouse sandwich, my wife had the turkey wrap with salad;
we found both to taste great.
Prices are very reasonable!
Will not hesitate to recommend and look forward to another visit.
