“Not for the timid driver”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

The road is spectacular, crossing through the heart of the Coast Range. Allow 2 hours between Pemberton and Lillooet when road conditions are good. Portions are narrow and steep (many grades up to 13%) so use low gears and don't overdo the brakes. Highly recommended.

“Good in winter”
Reviewed 24 December 2013

Winter maintenance good. Road clear. Watch for fallen rocks with freeze-thaw weather. Take lots of window washing fluid and enjoy the beautiful winter scenery.

“Views, pretty scenery around every turn. Take care in off season.”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

Where is Duffy Lake Road? It's route 99, if traveling from Whistler, it starts just after Pemberton. It's the main highway. When I traveled it in early May, I had the road entirely to myself on a Sunday afternoon. I only saw one other vehicle and it was a truck near Lilooet.

This is a scenic mountain drive filled with lovely views of a lake, a glacier and unspoiled wilderness. Most of the road was in good condition and paved although this is not a road to take if you don't have the time as it is quite windy and twisty in places. Also, on the day I visited, there was actually a dusting of snow on the road berms at the highest elevations. Take care and make sure your vehicle is prepared for the conditions.

“Good or Bad”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

This road is amazing in good weather and hell on wheels in bad weather. Just make sure you pick your season. Lots to see with great views coming into Lillooet.

“Take your time or you kids will get sick”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

Most of the road is in good condition with upgrades from the Olympics. There are switch-back at both ends of the road which can be troublesome on breaks, so use your transmission to do some of the work. Your passengers might get car sick if you don't stop a few times so take your time and enjoy the views. Lots of cool places to stop for a break including a few outhouses along the way. It trip is worth the effort...
