First off, this place along with anywhere else in Iqaluit to eat, is expensive. I rated the VALUE poor, not because it is more expensive than anywhere else, but visitors need to be aware.
My review is based on many visits and not just one.
Very nice room with a great view of Frobisher Bay. Breakfasts are very nice and they have good range from FULL breakfasts to health conscious choices. Always good assortment of jams and such on table, and coffee is very good.
Lunch menu is good as well with decent variety. Supper menu is always good, with some very nice meals available. Wine list good, and all in all, you will get a good meal at the Frob.
BUT, any gains they make with the eats is always trumped by the level of service. A lot of the staff seems very disinterested or at least not trained or disorganized. Things like getting a coffee when you sit down in the morning for breakfast can actually take 10 minutes!!!! Try for a re-fill, I've always had to ask.
For me lunch is the worse. Clearly people are in here eating on there lunch "hour", and I've sat more than once at least 40 minutes into that hour before food arrives. And I'm not talking packed place. It is absolutely puzzling!!!!
Supper service, in my experience has been better, but may have more to do with the fact that I'm not rushing to start the day or am between meetings at lunch. I wish I could say it is a one off thing, but as others have stated, the poor service seems the norm.
Too bad, as the quality and variety of food is there to make this a truly super place for any meal, but until they do something with the service, it will remain a POOR rating from me.
