“Fun cruise through the beautiful islands”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2013

We lucked out with a beautiful September day with Alan and Toddy and their diverse guests on this 5 hour cruise. Alas, we only saw the tail of one whale, but we saw sea lions and seals on the small islands of rocks and bald eagles in the trees. We also saw a mama bear and two cubs. Toddy and Alan really know the Broken Group Islands and the habits of the wildlife. They did their best to find wildlife for us, at one point chasing a whale (reported via walkie talkie by other whale tour operators - they have quite a connection!). Being seasoned veteran fishermen and tour operators, they entertained us with history, a bit of fishing politics, and First Nations lore. Highly enjoyable and I would do it again. You don't need to spring for the Norwoods lunch; because we were going to Norwoods for dinner, we opted to bring our own picnic which worked out just fine. It did get choppy and cold in the afternoon, so dress warmly because you might get wet if you're outside. Toddy always has coffee and tea available in the inner cabin in case you get cold.

“Just perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2013

We booked our trip well in advance of our Sept 2013 trip and would advise anyone to do this to avoid disapointment as this is a real gem!
Al & Toddy were perfect informative hosts and the Rainbow Maiden the best veiwing platform I could imagine.
Book the Gormet lunch (all did on our trip), we had perfect weather and put to in a lovely cove for lunch, again perfect.
We would have no hesitation in doing this again if we were to visit Vancouver Island again.
Many thanks to Al & Toddy once again.

“Sea Lions bobbing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2013

This was a wonderful 5 hour trip, around the Broken Islands, and the inlet near Ucluelet. The husband/wife team are very knowledgeable of the whole area, including the local history of the early Japanese settlers, the local First Nations, birds, & sea life. During our trip we had a sudden, very rare thunder/lightening storm...this caused the sea lions to get into the water and were bobbing around like corks...a rare sight. We saw eagles, osprey, whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, as well as the starfish & mussels visible on the rocks @ low tide.
We would highly rate this adventure.

...and they are
Alan and Toddy made the whale watching trip so enjoyable and relaxing...no awkwardness and a free run of their lovely boat- The Rain Coast Maiden. We saw everything we wanted to see and the commentary was great fun!
You know a really good trip when you don't want it to end!!!
Oh and viva la chocolate!

“Great experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2013

We had such a good time when we went out with Toddy & Al of Archipelago Wildlife Cruises. They operate like a well-oiled machine to make sure their guests thoroughly enjoy themselves. The skies were blue, the waters calm, the food excellent and we saw wildlife despite how late in the season it was. It was a great experience all around.
