Horizons West
Ranked #9 of 30 Ucluelet B&B and Inns
Reviewed 4 July 2011

We stayed in Ucluelet for 2 nights in the Horizons West B&B. The rooms are great, they give a home feeling. The "living" room was nice, some quite music is playing and you can enjoy free coffee or thea with some sweets or cookies. The view over the ocean from the living room as wel as from the sleeping room ( we had "the Den") was great. A small isle is in front of the house, and some wild life including the humpback whales can be seen.
The breakfast made by Jennifer was excellent. Everything was there, fruit, youghurt and some special made backings with eggs right from the oven. Muffins or scones to pick and tea and freshley brewed coffee.
The hostess helped us with reserving the bear watching trip by phoning and confirm our stay. She also gave good information about dinner and other sightseeing trips and trails.

If we go back to Canada, this B&B will surely be on our list.

This B&B is the best we stayed at during our 3 weeks-holiday in Canada!

The loghouse is absolutely gorgeous and we were spoilt with a beautiful room ("The Den") with a great kingsize bed, a fireplace and our own deck with a terrific view onto a little bay.

In the evenings, we could watch the sea otters play in the bay and relax in the peaceful atmosphere of the house.

In the mornings, Jennifer, David and Wendy treated us to delicious breakfasts (by the way, also the best we had during our holidays!) and answered all our eager questions about Canada, Ucluelet, wildlife and hiking in the area.

It is a pity that we could only stay for two nights - the next time, we'll stay at least for a week!

Really liked this place. Friendly and helpful staff and owner who made us feel welcome and cooked great breakfasts. Our room was spacious with enormous bed and own balcony. The communal room had great views over the bay. We were really lucky to have about 60 sea otters overnighting in the bay - watching them arrive each evening was an unexpected highlight of our trip to the island. Definitely recommend Ucluelet over Tofino to anyone who wants a quiet, chilled out location. We did whale watching with Jamies, sea kayaking with Majestic Ocean Adventures and ended up having all our dinners at the Driftwood cafe. Would happily go again.

Room Tip: Not a big issue - all good.

Referred by a friend, we were a little skeptical going to a B&B, normally preferring to stay in a less personal hotel. I could not have been happier with the character of the place and was fascinated about some of the history of the building. A little tricky to find, and not in the middle of it all, but I think that added to the experience staying there. Not many folks around while I was there, and ample room to lounge, I would go back in a second.

The scenery from the rooms and adjoining balconies was outstanding and the breakfasts were superb. Jennifer knew a lot of local happenings and information and was always quick to help with questions or arrange an outing. Rooms were VERY spacious and well equipped. The common room was quite comfortable and very welcoming after a big hike on the nearby Pacific Trail.

This was the best B&B I have ever been to. David and Wendy were great hosts and made sure to look after every need. The attention to the small details helped to create the WOW factor. I would definitely recommend this place!

We arrived late at night to our wonderful host Rich and were made to feel right at home in seconds. Rich set us up in "The Den", one of the most beautiful and rustic rooms I have every stayed in. The room led out onto a small deck that overlooked a little cove of the pacific ocean that was right outside our door. We slept wonderful that night with the sound of the waves and fresh smell of the ocean. In the morning, we were served a very tasty breakfast including fresh salmon and took a tour of the house. A beautifully designed, rustic home only 100 steps from the pacific ocean.
This was one of the nicest and most comfortable places I have ever stayed. I would highly recommend going to Ucluelet and staying there.
