This is our second trip to Black Rock and both have been great. The service is outstanding. There was a screaming baby in the room beside us and we told the front desk and we were moved shortly after to an even better room! The spa is also amazing...I had the Wild Pacific Revive which includes a massage and facial from Nicole and I booked again for a second day! Beautiful location and the perfect getaway from the city for peace and tranquility.

My 2nd time here, in the main lodge this time. Very clean, very nice rooms and quite spacious (I've painted many apartments/condo's smaller than our 1 bedroom suite). Very modern and comfy, almost wanted to stay in the room the whole time. Our view was south across the bay and not towards Japan but still very nice. The trail suites face west and most have a great view. Nothing but smiles and great service from the staff. The way they handled a customer who was being a problem prior to me checking in really set them apart from other paces I have been. Would not hesitate to stay again, a little more money but well worth it.

Room Tip: Upper Trail suites may have better views as do the more expensive suites in the main lodge on the we...

We loved staying at the Black Rock. The room & location were fabulous! The room itself was a standard size but has a fireplace to make it special. The bathroom was Wonderful!! A huge walk-in shower with a separate soaking tub. The kitchenette had all of the basics which was very nice & the balcony overlooks trees for the most part but you can see the ocean through them as well as hear the surf crashing on the rocks. We had sushi in the Lounge & it was very good. I will definitely come back.

Great place to stay, views awesome, rooms very clean, beds, soft and comfy, bathrooms are large and clean, however, dimly lit, so if you are wanting to take out contacts or apply makeup, good luck. Balcony are large and kitchen utensils in good condition if you are taking advantage of self keep. The staff are courteous and friendly. Restaurant food is pricey, and warm champagne and Caesar salad dressing so thick and heavy we sent it back (they removed it from the bill) . breakfast was okay but the muffins seemed to be unthawed, over cooked, even though they apparently are made on site, which would make one think you would have, soft, succulent, juicy berries in them. No such luck. Would I stay there again, yes, but eat In town instead as there are some really good restaurants (Matteson's House, blue room cafe, Norwoods) that meet, beat Black Rocks' cuisine hands down. So save you money and dine in town.
As for the spa, it tries, but if you "really" want a good experience ensure you ask for a certified therapist. The front desk receptionist was disinterested and went through the motions. My reflexologist was new to the trade and I am still hobbling on my right foot as she seemed determined to rid my foot of all issues, to the point I had to ask her twice to stop, as the pain of her massaging the sole of my foot became to much to bear. Oh well.

Room Tip: The more you pay, the better the view, which why you go there.

Stayed in a one bedroom oceanfront trail suite (outside of the main building) and was blown away by the setting. The suite was virtually perfect. Some staff at the resort were better/friendlier than others but overall, service was good. Had take-out from the Float lounge - food was mediocre but staff and service were very good. Had breakfast at the Fetch restaurant on the patio which was great all around (excellent coffee!). I will definitely return in the future.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for an ocean view or oceanfront suite - you'll recoup the cost by never wanting to...

Just finished staying here, only for a night but I wish we had more time. The staff everywhere in the hotel were super friendly and helpful. The rooms are FANTASTIC. Huge washrooms and super clean. Definitely get a room with a view, you won't be sorry. The trail is an easy one to walk and enjoy and the food at fetch was yummy. I enjoyed my stay here and will definitely stay here again! It was definitely worth the short drive from Tofino.

If you are looking for a restful location, with beautiful views and rugged nature... this is it. The Black Rock Resort is a great hotel with a spectacular location, great rooms, excellent spa. Great place to take nature walks with the Wild Pacific Trail at your doorstep and Big Beach for exploring the tidal pools.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view room... April and May are great months to goo not as busy as the summer months...
