“Absolute Favourite Place!”
Reviewed 10 August 2013

If you're looking for wilderness camping in a peaceful setting this is the place to go! From the moment you pull in and see the ocean, all reality slips away and you're lost in the tranquility of nature. A major benefit is that being a bit of a distance from both Tofino & Ucluelet, it keeps the young partiers away - which can definitely be an issue sometimes when camping. Mussel Beach is the perfect location and much more enjoyable than the crowded sites in neighbouring towns. Curits & Lori are fantastic hosts and you can definitely tell they work very hard year round to keep the campground clean and well maintained. Most of the sites are right on the waters edge though there are a few sites in the bush if you'd prefer. There are outhouses throughout the property which are newly built of wood (not the plastic kind) and are very well kept! There's even cute planter boxes by some, giving it a garden appeal rather than just an outhouse. I found this touch to be really nice. With the abundance of wood around they have built these awesome driftwood structures, be sure to check them out! We had a wonderful time beach combing, hiking - we checked out a nearby cave, watching wildlife, and simply relaxing. This place has it all! We loved our experience at Mussel Beach and we will definitely be back! Thank you Curtis & Lori for a lovely camping experience :)

My husband and I stayed here for four days back in July. It was just an incredible experience. The grounds themselves were not only naturally beautiful but they were well maintained and taken care of by the owners. Lori and Curtis were extremely hospitable and were a major part in how great the experience really was. I would highly recommend this place to anybody looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating experience being right in the middle of mother nature at it's best. That we got to see everything from sea otters to whales barely even leaving our campsite was pretty amazing too.

A great campground with wonderful hosts. The campsites are well maintained, clean and spacious. Just off the ocean/beach, it is perfect for crabbing and fishing. Curtis and his wife Lori were wonderful hosts. Nothing better than waking up hearing the waves crash on the shore! A beautiful property well worth the drive down the gravel road.

I can’t speak highly enough of this place! Mussel beach is an amazing spot. To add to the sensational natural beauty, the way the site is managed by owners Curtis and Lori is top shelf.

The sites are clean, well spaced out and pretty much every lot has it’s own beach access.

We arrived very late on the fist night and Curtis waited up and showed us around. We also had some car trouble two days on the trip and despite being busy Curtis went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we had a great stay and got home without any hassles or stress.

I highly recommend Mussel Beach for a relaxing weekend away with friends.

Also, fireworks on Canada were a highlight!!

What a great weekend, Mussell beach is a true gem, an awesome spot and awesome hosts in Curtis and Lori. We fished and crabbed straight out front in a kayak which was great. the drive along the gravel road is well worth it, as the camp site is clean, well maintained and not too busy. I would of been happy to just chill around the campsite, fish, crab and wlak along the beach all weekend, such an amazing spot. We had some car trouble (2 blown tires) Curtis went far and above helping us out with changing tires and even lending us a tire for the trip back to Port Alberni. Our weekend would have been vastly different without the support and help from Curtis and Lori, such great hosts. To top it off they put on a great Fire Work show to celebrate Canada day, followed by an impromptu "Oh Canada" sung by the crowd, what a great atmosphere.
