“Beautiful quiet location on the water with hiking at your doorstep”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2014

If you are looking for accommodation on the water in a quiet location and not in the heart of downtown Ucluelet but within walking distance of town and the Wild Pacific Trail at your doorstep then I would recommend Terrace Beach. The suite had comfortable bed and pullout sofa, kitchen with everything we needed to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a nice bathroom with hot shower. We stayed in the one bedroom with pullout sofa and it accommodated 2 adult couples comfortably.

Terrace Beach Resort is definitely a very nice place to stay. I was there in June as part of a company outing where we occupied most of the available rooms and cabins. I thought important to mention it to give context and to explain why I didn't rate the place as "Excellent".

I was designated to share accommodation with others and ended sleeping in the sofa-bed which, as most sofa-beds go, is horrible to sleep. In most cases I just place the mattress on the floor but this time, as the mattress itself was a very old spring mattress, I decided to slept on the couch itself. Not the most comfortable as you can imagine, but better than the mattress.

Nevertheless, here are my observations about the place:

The location is superb. Right on the beach, with beautiful sunsets, hiking's all around and with short distance to the village centre. The beach itself is more of stones than sand so it might not be what you are looking for when you go to Tofino/Ucluelet. As you can imagine the place is quiet and out of the way. There is enough space for parking but, depending on your room, you might need to go up a few flights of stairs so it's better to pack in various small bags and do more than one trip to take it all (if you have back problems).

About the unit itself (I stayed in Stormwatcher), it's had one bedroom plus a loft. I'm sorry but there's very little I can say about the bedroom or loft. In any case, it has a nice ample bathroom (very clean and bright), a kitchen with all utensils you might need, a large living and dining room (you could give a party there), and a balcony with a barbecue (my roommates used it a few times) and a Jacuzzi. Definitely all clean, bright, well kept and working perfectly.

After all, my only somewhat negative comment would be about the Jacuzzi, which I couldn't turn off and, according to the receptionist, "has always been this way".

For all purposes, this is a great place to stay, being with friends, family, or as a couple,

Room Tip: The room will depend on the number of people you are travelling with. If you are just a couple, the...

Our kids, 10 and 12, love looking for things at low tide. So the proximity of Terrace Beach resort to an amazing assortment of tide pools (and sea stars, clams, anenome, sand eels, etc) was perfect for us. We stayed for 5 nights at Salty Dog #7, and it was immaculate when we arrived. The beds with jersey knit sheets were so comfy, as was the pull out couch. At night, we opened our windows, breathed in ocean air and snuggled under the cozy duvets as we fell asleep to the sound of crashing waves.

There is a small but well stocked kitchen, and staff come every 2 days to change towels and empty garbage -- this was just fine for us. There was an Oscar broom that we used to keep any sand tracked in under control. The office (Margie) is super helpful, and visitors have access to borrow shovels and pails, DVDs and board games.

Cottages are 3 levels and the access to each cottage requires going up stairs and a lot of steps. Even though there was a 'no vacancy' sign up, it never felt busy here, except sometimes at night, the parking lot was full, so we had to ge creative about where we parked.

We are so sad to be leaving this wonderful, relaxing resort but will definitely ba back!

Room Tip: Definitely get a room overlooking the beach!

Spent a couple of wonderful nights last weekend at the 'one of a kind' Terrace Beach Resort in spectacular Ucluelet, BC and found it to be everything, and more, that we expected. The suite was exceptional with equipped with everything, including a hot tub, we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The staff was friendly and helpful, which added to the feeling of being 'at home' there. A lovely, easily walked ocean side trail is right next door and the delights of the town are just minutes away. A huge 'thank you' to the Priestly family for this priceless place to stay!

Room Tip: Watch for the eagles nest on a tall tree between the beach and the hotel!

We stayed for three sunny days in Tidal Pool. Hot tub was wonderful added bonus on the balcony overlooking a very spectacular view of the inlet. The local boat tour - 3hours. Allowed us to see many wildlife and really get an appreciation of what this part of Canada is really all about.
Drove out to Tofino and along the way stopped off for a special beach walk and a walk through the forest (B loop). The scenery was spectacular and so was the weather. Keep in mind the fog rolls in and has a mind of its own. Hope we will able to come back to the Pacific RIM!!!!

Room Tip: wifi and cell reception was not good. Room 5 is very nice with beach access and views. Tidal Pool...

Terrace Beach Resort is a great location in Ucluelet. We and our two teenagers were in Salty Dog #7, one of the beachside units, and we could hear the waves lapping at high tide at night, and in the morning saw a bald eagle drying its wings on the beach. (There is currently an eagle's nest with babies on location). The resort is at the edge of the Wild Pacific trail; my son went jogging on the trail and we hiked it not once but several times. We spent most of our time in Ucluelet but the drive to the Pacific Rim hikes, other beaches and to Tofino is short.

My husband, dog and I stayed at Terrace Beach Resort in the Morning Mist cabin for five nights, and it was spectacular! The view from our deck was incredible, especially from the 2 person hot tub. The cabin has all the amenities you could ask for, and is just steps from the Wild Pacific Trail. Our stay was peaceful and relaxing, exactly what we wanted.
