“A Gem! The Best Stay! 5 Star Plus”
Reviewed 27 April 2013

This is a wonderful 8 Beautifully appointed Units in the heart of downtown Picton, right on the Main Street. It was a spur of the moment overnight trip to tour the County of Prince Edward! Decorated with superb beds, earth tones, everything was spotless, lots of towels, coffee maker, eat room separately heated. It was wonderful to see the interest in the person who signed us in! Go to Cleave's behind the building and rent your room, or email and can pick up keys upon arrival. Very accommodating. You are on your on but a on call person if needed! It was a great stay, would recommend to anyone travelling the County! They supplied us with map of the county and all the local travel materials. Walked to dinner, nice walk downtown, great parking at side! Will go again! A lovely town to visit!

Room Tip: All rooms were great! No elevator so we chose the first level up! Saw all types of rooms and each is...

We arrived late but were able to access our keys in a "coded" lockbox in the parking area. The room was clean, spacious and filled with lots of those little things that make life easy e.g., lotions, shampoos, towels, wash cloths, kleenex, tourist information etc. There are lots of restaurants within easy walking distance, Portabella, in particular was pleasing. Our trip was arranged through a telephone call and as there is no front desk we did not see a hotel employee during our stay, however they were available by phone and would come in to attend to any problems. We would be happy to stay there again.

Room Tip: The hotel is on the second and third floors of the building so call early and ask for a second floor...

I know it sounds odd that this hotel's "front desk" is a renovation store in the back parking lot, but don't let that keep you from trying the Queen's Inn! They really have it down pat. We knew we would be arriving late, so a quick phonecall to staff got us the "code" to access our room key from an outdoor lockbox. Everything else went equally smoothly. The room was LARGE, clean and well-equipped with plenty of towels, coffee, etc. for our whole stay. Right outside the front door is the main street -- with shops, restaurants, banks, gas stations, etc. Extremely convenient -- the locals are very helpful to tourists and the town is so picturesque. If you are an "independent traveller" -- i.e. don't need valet parking or help up the stairs with your luggage -- then this is a delightful place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main street have some street noise.

We stayed at the Queen's INN in July for 3 nights. Reading the reviews, you are never quite sure until you arrive. We were very delighted with the large room, cleanliness and great location right on main street. Lots of great restuarants and shopping within walking distance or a very short drive. Picked up keys at the establishment behind the inn ( it's in the same parking lot). Very friendly service as well as quick response through email. Yes, there is no ice on sight but the store was across the street. Bought ice and snacks and filled the ice buckets and cooler we had with us - it was no problem. We don't travel to spend time talking to the front desk so not having someone on sight was a non issue for us. We were in the large corner room (2nd fl) and didn't have any issue with noise during our stay though we did notice the ear plugs. Spent an afternoon at Sandbanks Provincial park swimming & sunning, visited some wineries and enjoyed some great meals. If in the area again, we would definitely go back to the Queen's Inn. We thought it was good value. If you want better, be prepared to pay more.

We stopped here on our way to Quebec from Niagra Falls. We took a tour of the wine region from PEC Wine Tours. It was a fun day (but all the wine started to add up). There are a number of resteraunts that you can walk to. And the locals are very proud of there wines - there are a number of well run wineries. The Hotel itself is a bit odd in that there isn't a front desk per se, you check in at the remodelling business behind the hotel. They obviously know what they are doing because the rooms are clean comfartable and in much better condtions than you'd find at any chain hotel. If you are dependent on the formality of a traditional hotel, this may not be for you. Other-wise lighten up, you're on vacation!

we stayed here for first time and were very pleasantly surprised. great value for money - big room, all the amenities. It also depends why you are in the county - if, like us, you are there for the beach, then you dont spend much time in the room, and come back sandy etc.

as others have mentioned, no one on site, but the woman on the phone was very helpful and pleasant.

rooms were noisy - earplugs are provided, but lack of white noise from AC made it easy to hear neighbours and street noise. maybe sound machines could be provided?

also - extra latch on door would be good. noticed we shared hallway with what we think was apartments on other side of door, and their access door from street was not locked, enabling anyone to access our floor. deadbolts or at least chains would be appreciated.

but, very clean, very affordable, tv, AC, lots of towels and supplies, lots of room, excellent location

We booked this place based on their website. Needed to pay the first night in advance, and the second on arrival. The rooms, up a flight of steps over a store, were nice enough but the amenities were limited. Styrofoam cups for the coffee, had to buy ice at the nearby grocery store. A bit of noise between the units, and a fair bit of street noise (our room was right on Main Street.). On the plus side, a thermostat controlled the temperature on a very hot day; it was not just window air conditioning. There is free parking. It seemed a little pricey ($125/night) for what you get.

Room Tip: Rooms not on Main Street may be a bit quieter.
