“Our favourite B&B”
Reviewed 21 May 2013

We have stayed with Jayne and Andrew for several years now. We come for the Shepley Spring Folk Festival each year, but to be honest, if the Festival wasn't on, we'd have to invent an excuse to come back. We stay in the ground-floor Stable room, as my husband is disabled. There is a walk-in shower, but not completely level access. Although there are no grab rails, they have now got a portable, which improves access. Like other guests, we run out of superlatives: beautiful location, lovely views (although I wouldn't like to drive up there when it's icy!), gorgeous room, fabulous bed, mouthwatering and waistband-expanding breakfasts. But best of all, Jayne and Andrew, who are quite simply lovely people, and they will welcome you into their home like a treasured friend. So will Snoops if you throw the ball for her.

Our friends booked us into Ackroyd House and we weren't disappointed, Andrew greeted us as we pulled up onto the drive and snoops ( the dog), we were made to feel very welcome . We stopped in the Stable Room it was a lovely bright room with plenty of space even having to childrens beds in, Andrew showed us round the lovely gardens while the boys tried to tire out snoops ( no chance). The breakfast was outstanding, the choice was fabulous, i would go there just for breakfast. We will definetly go back and will recommended to all our friends, so a big thank you to Andrew and Jayne for making our weekend a really enjoyable one.

We have stayed at Ackroyd House twice now and are planning our next visit!

On both occasions we were in The Stable room. Although the views are, apparently, not as good as the Valley room, we found them to be breathtaking and, in The Stable room, you have direct access to the lovely gardens. The room is very large for a B&B, with a comfy 'lounge' area, set apart from possibly the biggest and most comfortable bed we've ever slept in! Excellent shower in the spotlessly clean bathroom, with soft towels and lovely toiletries.

And then the breakfast..... So scrumptious! Good choice of fruits, yogurts and cereals, followed by a hearty Full English that was superbly cooked and set us up nicely for the rest of the day!

Jayne and Andrew are warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. They were also helpful in recommending and booking places to have our evening meals.

The only reason for me not to recommend it, would be to increase the chances of there being a room available next time we want to stay!!

Room Tip: Both rooms are beautiful, but Valley room quieter and more private.

My wife and I stayed at Ackroyd House overnight on 7/05/2013, as the B&B we were booked into had had a boiler burst. We were sent to Ackroyd House.......WOW!!! We have stayed in some great hotels and B&B's but Ackroyd House beats them all by miles.

The room was incredible as was the view. We were welcomed by the owner, Andrew, who was a really nice guy. He did the most beautiful breakfast on the Wednesday morning. We "WILL" be going back there again.

Thanks Andrew.

Don & Brenda Carter.

From the minute that we were greeted by Andrew, we felt the warmth of the hospitality and care. The views from the rooms are amazing and breathtaking. Our host even offered to iron a shirt instead of just handing over the iron and iron board which was very appreciate it. After a great night sleep, we came down to a beautiful breakfast table which everything your heart desire - not your waist :)

Would strongly recommend Ackroyd House and will definitely stay over again.

Room Tip: I would recommend the The Valley room for the views.

This 5star b&b is is in the most beautiful place, looking out over hill and dale. The 2 suites are very generously sized with everything you could need there including a sherry decanter. The hosts Andy and Jane cannot do enough for you. Breakfast was a meal that lasted the day and lots of choice. We will be going back again and it seems looking thru the comments book, they have lots of return business - that must say a lot.

This is not just a B&B, it is a ministry of kindness and care. I felt pampered as soon as we drove into the car park and then it got better & better. The views outside and the level of comfort inside are fantastic. Andrew & Jayne did everything they possibly could to provide for our needs and deserve all the credit given in the reviews.
