“Always a great adventure!”

We've been out with Bruce multiple times and we've always had a blast. Bruce is so knowledgeable about Deer Island and the surrounding islands. We've seen everything from seals, whales, porpoises, blue heron to eagles. The snack or lunch is always filling and yummy. He has a laid back way about him that puts you at ease while making sure you understand the basics of kayaking and safety. Can't wait to go out with him again this August when we're down on Deer Island. (Note: haven't been out with Bruce since August 2012 so had to select 2013. Sorry for the late review!).

We had scheduled a full day tour, but unfortunately after several days of beautiful weather our luck ran out and it turned rainy and windy and generally awful! Since our phones didn't work up in that area, we had no way of finding out whether our trip would have to be cancelled so we just turned up. Bruce thought we might be able to manage a shorter tour, but once we got out on the water we found that conditions just weren't workable. So instead we paddled around in the bay a bit, just to get a bit of an experience, then headed back inside to dry off and have a nice chat. Even though things didn't go to plan we still had a great time, and hope we'll have a chance to check them out in Costa Rica sometime soon and give it a go there!

Just as a side note, if you're coming over to Deer Island from Maine remember that the ferries only take cash (US or Canadian). It was $23 for the ferry from Campobello to Deer Island. I assume it's the same back but I don't know, as we ended up taking the larger free ferry over to St. George, NB afterwards.

A friend and I booked a full day kayak trip and were not disappointed. Our guide, Guy, was excellent, and altered plans a couple of times as the weather and tides changed. It was a gorgeous day and the area could not be more beautiful. Guy also paid attention to our kayaking skills and we had plenty of opportunities to rest if needed. Definitely worth making the trip to Deer Island.

We had a large group for an afternoon kayak trip. We contacted Seascape a month or two beforehand, and was in communication with them regularly to firm up details, discuss weather, and fine-tune our plans. Bruce spends part of the year leading kayak tours in Costa Rica, and was there up until a day or two before our scheduled trip; despite this challenge, he was able to coordinate our event without a hitch.

Seascape Kayak Tours is located down a quiet, dirt road; despite being off the beaten track, it was easy to find with good street signage. Bruce and Brandy provided us with a careful and complete orientation and safety prep; the kayaks and other equipment were in great condition. We were each asked to demonstrate our ability to perform basic kayak maneuvers before setting out in earnest, another indication that Bruce takes safety very seriously. We were treated to a beautiful tour through the coastal waters of Deer Island, making a stop on a neighboring island for a lovely fruit and cheese picnic. Bruce was sure to point out interesting sights along the way, including all sorts of wildlife, fishing weirs, and geographic points of interest. We had mixed levels of kayaking experience in our group -- some total neophytes as well as others with intermediate level experience. Everyone felt safe and capable; on the water for 3 hours, we were tired but not exhausted at the end.

Seascape is a very professional outfit, and Deer Island is lovely. I highly recommend!

We thoroughly enjoyed our day of kayaking with Seascape. The staff was knowledgeable, helpful, interesting, and friendly. We saw amazing porpoises and seals. Lunch was wonderful on the beach of one of the islands. I highly recommend this company. True professionals. We did the one day trip, but they also offer longer trips, which sounds great.
