No internet service in room even though advertised that there was wireless internet available. Hot tub unusable - luke warm and in a very public open awkward spot. No TV in the room - just a TV room in the building with a small TV. Fitness center was in a hallway that was inconvenient with people walking through.

The hotel itself had beautiful grounds and trails. It was more than peacful and relaxing and the rooms were all facing the ocean with cruise ships streaming by close to shore during the evening. The king size beb was ultra comfortable and it was a great experience and time of rest and rejuvination.

Room Tip: Big windows and a lovely balcony to enjoy looking at the ocean and the eagles

Thank you very much for your positive comments. Please forgive us where we fell short in your expectations, that is/was certainly not our intention. Some of the end rooms do have problems catching the WIFI signal from the Grand Hall. The lower level of the Lodge accommodates our hot tub, exercise room and sauna and generally has minimal traffic. Should guests leave the hot tub cover off, the hot tub certainly does loose its tempurature. The Management and the Staff at Tsa-Kwa-Luten work hard and are dedicated the positive guest satisfaction and we'll look forward to serving you again in the future if you'll allow us the opportunity.

Along with five others I have been spending a week at Tsa Qua Luten each year for a sufficiently long time that I don't remember exactly when this started. Let's say ten years ago. We've just returned, having booked again for next year.

I know that lot of other folk traveling with others also make a point of returning to the same place year after year, and it's my observation that often they return to the same place simply because it has become ritualized. No so for us; we are well traveled and would abandon a place in a minute if things there went South.

Even for someone staying for two nights (hint #1--don't just stay for a night, as there's a lot to see and do, and you won't ease into the ambiance of the place) this lodge has a lot to offer. I can't see how a person could not be impressed by the monumental great room when arriving; it still impresses me every time. Located right on the edge of a seashore bluff at the far southern end of Quadra Island at Cape Mudge, every room looks out at a vast expanse of sea and land. Immediately in front are summer resident eagles (three, this year). Located not only on a First Nations reserve but also an historical spot--the bluff and village located there were sketched by one of Captain Vancouver's crew in 1792--there are several interesting local walks: to the Cape Mudge lighthouse and further on to a pretty reserve village with an outstanding museum of historical ceremonial artifacts (hint #2: do visit the museum--it is also accessible by car).

The lodge has two kinds of rooms and a number of seaside cabins (and a small seaside RV park in an astonishing setting). There are two story loft rooms (two double beds down and one up, with one balcony) and ground floor rooms with two double beds that open out to a grassy area (hint #3: get a loft if you can: better view, even if you don't need the extra bed). The cabins are fully furnished, with kitchen facilities, and are right on the water; they'd probably be ideal for families, but having once tried one I personally prefer being in the lodge.

Tsa Qua Luten offers a meal voucher option, where you get a certain credit towards dinner and breakfast meals, and for longer stays a few also for lunch. I'd strongly recommend making use of this option. It saves money if you eat in--and you certainly should at least some of the time, as the restaurant is quite good. We always eat in every morning and night, taking lunch elsewhere most days.

There's a good sauna, a medium sized hot tub with a view, and a small exercise room.

Staff are friendly and very helpful. Heather and Helen at the front desk can address just about any concern you might have.

Room Tip: try to get a loft room.

I have naver stayed in a resort owned by a First Nation Association. The setting on Quadra Island was spectular. The water views of the ferries and tug boats pulling freight carriers was beautiful to behold.

The rooms were small with a small balcony, but water front houses are available for reasonable price. Because of no air conditioning, when it is sunny our room was hot and we needed a fan and kept our window open.

The cedar plank salmon was average for my taste, but the breakfast was very good.

The staff were very customer-oriented. The desk clerk provided us with an air fan for our warm room.

The many activities (archy, etc.) and walks make this a true resort for family and couples.

The price for our accommodation was well-worth the money.

Room Tip: It costs a little over C$40 for a round trip ferry for two passengers and a car from Campbell River...

Bring your binoculars to watch the bald headed eagles diving for fish outside your windows and resting in the trees. Every room has a view across the strait to Campbell River and the mountains of Vancouver Island! The rooms are average size with good beds and wonderful linens. The restaurant has a very fine menu and the food was absolutely first rate. We visited on the opening weekend of the new season and so the one night package included a $45 coupon toward dinner and a $20 coupon for breakfast. The main entrance hall is vast and evokes the feeling of being in a first-nations longhouse. The halls have old b/w photos of native villages from the late 1800s and early 1900s. There are great walks to be enjoyed along the beach and through the woods. We also had great fun using the archery sets that are loaned out free of charge. We highly recommend Tsa Kwa Luten Lodge for a relaxing getaway. There's a tiny village with bookstore, coffee shop, grocery store, etc. a few kilometers away and the pub at Heriot Bay (20 minutes drive) serves a great lunch.

We rented one of the cabins and were here over a weekend. The location, right on the beach, was fantastic! It was very private, yet easily accessible. Our 11 year old son was able to go out exploring on the beach as soon as he woke up. My husband and I found many trails for running (or walking).
The restaurant and main building was maybe a five minute walk away. We both ordered the halibut, which was great. We also ordered a bottle of wine and noted how inexpensive it was. All in all, a great experience and we'll definitely be back.

This hotel deliveries every it says it does. The wooden, First Nations architecture fits in really well with the cliff top location and the theme runs throughout the lodge. The rooms were big and comfortable, with great views of the sea and Vancouver Island. There is lots of literature available in the hotel about the surrounding location and things to do. But it is a tranquil place in a quiet location so best to just go and soak up the atmosphere. The food in the restaurant is fantastic - the best we had in 2 weeks of travelling around the Sunshine coast and Vancouver Island, The staff in the restaurant are also great - they know the menu inside out and are very friendly.

We stayed and dined at this lodge in the fall of 2011 for a romantic getaway. The location is stunning - right on the water. The room was fine with a view of the ocean. The meals were wonderful and our table also had a fine view of the ocean and of the city of Campbell River on Vancouver Island and of the Vancouver Island mountains.
