“Beautiful view/great food”
Reviewed 22 July 2008

This lodge is a great place for a quiet get-away. The dining experience was wonderful and very reasonably priced. The staff in the dining room was great and very friendly.
The rooms are SMALL. The first room we got was way at one end of the lodge with many steps. We had to request another room because my husband wears a brace and there were too many steps. The second room we got was the same as the first with the exception we were on the main floor with sliders directly out to the lawn. It was beautiful. If I came back I would request a a room with two beds in it. They are much larger. The rooms are very clean and the place is quiet. You will see much wildlife and the walk to the lighthouse is worth taking. If you like a quiet time with beautiful scenery this is the ticket for you.
The dining is exceptional but you must make a reservation or you won't be able to get in.
This is not a place for small children. There is not much to do here for little ones. This is more for adults or older teenagers who can appreciate the walks and the wildnerness.

We enjoyed a 2 night stay. Upon arriving we were impressed with the beautiful setting overlooking the Strait of Georgia. Our room was more than satisfactory with king size bed and a lovely bottle of wine and fresh strawberrys to mark our anniversary. This was a more than thoughtful jesture. We reserved for a 7:00pm dinner, and found the dinning room almost full. The food was above average and plenty of it. Well presented and service wonderful. We enjoyed driving around the island and down to the lighthouse and R.V. park next to it. Beautiful setting to watch the cruise ships to Alaska sail by in the summer months. The lodge is a place to relax and unwind and a few couples were reading and playing cards in the huge lobby in the evening. A large hot tub and fitness room were placed on the ground floor, and walking paths down to the beach. We saw eagles and a large owl landed on the lawn in front of our room.I would certainly recommend this get-a-way destination to anyone who would like to unwind and relax. As far as the price, would put this in the A-1 catagory of best values for your money. To the staff and managment. Please keep it up, you were all great!

Great place, good food but.......
The rooms are quite a bit smaller than in other places we stayed in Canada this summer, consequently we could often smell the smokers on the next balcony, no TV in the room, we could also hear the newly weds next door! Not fantastic for privacy.

We visited Tsa-Kwa-Luten Lodge on Quadra Island, BC with our three children, aged 11, 8 and almost 2. We rented a cottage fronting Discovery Passage, a main thoroughfare for all kinds of seacraft and cruise ships heading to Alaska. The main lodge is very lovely - designed to look like a Pacific Coast native Indian long house. The property includes 1100 forested acres and is owned by the Cape Mudge Band. Everything is very well maintained, including the cottages. The meals at the dining lounge were excellent.
I think this place is better suited to couples looking for a romantic getaway, or perhaps families with no toddlers. While our older children enjoyed exploring the rocky shoreline in front of our cottage, they could not really go for a swim since the current is too strong, and there is no pool at the lodge - just an outdoor hot tub. Quadra Island itself is a very quiet place and there are no sandy beaches. However, if you are into canoeing, kayaking or hiking you should definitely check this place out. (Sandy beaches can be found on another island a short ferry ride away.)
I did enjoy quiet evenings after the kids went to bed, reading by our fireplace and watching the huge Alaskan cruise ships sail by.
One disappointment was our discovery that the nearby Cape Mudge Museum has been closed for renovations for a very long time with no foreseeable re-opening date planned.

Twa-Kwa-Luten Lodge is such a great facility that I almost hate to share it. Its location on Quadra Island removes it from the touristy Campbell River area as one must ferry across Discovery Passage in order to reach it. This small accommodation has only 29 guest rooms all featuring ocean views and many having private patios or sundecks facing the passage. The dining room serves a variety of gourmet west coast cuisine just off the main lodge entrance. The rustic long house design and first people artwork throughout adds to the ambience. Four cottages with kitchenettes, fireplaces, and private verandas are also available.
Though somewhat removed from the main lodge, they share the wonderful views of the passage. Activities including whale watching, scuba-diving, kayaking, and golf can be arranged at the lodge.
