“Fabulous place ,very relaxing.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014

We spent three nights here and weren't disappointed.
It has been said that the front desk lady wasn't very friendly which we thought at first but overtime we found her to be very helpful.
The environment is great,fabulously relaxing.
Our booking included an allowance on dinner and breakfast. The food is great and to say that portions are large is an understatement they are really, really big so no chance of going hungry. We saw lots of wildlife and had booked a trip where were lucky enough to follow and track a pod of orcas - a brilliant experience. We spoke to several people from vancouver who used the lodge as a get away from it all .
Highly recommended

We stayed here for two nights in late May using a third party www "deal" rate. The value was very good.

This lodge appears to have been built about 25 years ago. The rooms and dining room are in very good condition, likely renovated within the last five years. The exterior stain on the lodge is a bit weathered and some of the concrete on the room walkouts is cracked. The design of the main lodge was inspired by that of a traditional Kwagiulth coastal First Nation "Big House". It is warm and inviting and its placement about 50 feet above the water on a gentle slope affords it magnificent views of BC's Inland Passage, its marine traffic and the Vancouver Island town of Campbell River. The lawns and pathways and roadways were well kept. The paths and roadways are gravel or packed dirt. The road to the lodge is paved until you enter the grounds. There are no gardens There are nature trails and an extensive untouched shoreline adjacent to the lodge. The Cape Mudge lighthouse (operational) is about .75 kms from the lodge along a private road.

We found our king sized bed to be comfortable and the room furnishings to be modern and well thought out. Each room has framed traditional images decorating the walls and the one we stayed in was very clean. The bathroom was also clean and had about the fasted hot water delivery I have had anywhere. There are not TVs in the rooms, but wifi is available at no cost and a common TV room is available to guests requiring this. All rooms have ocean views (much better than TV). There were a couple of cracked floor tiles and minor scratches on the room's paint, but nothing really that would be noticeable had I not been looking.

We had one dinner in the dining room which has an option of eating outside or in. The service was moderately slow and reservations are required (at least 30 minutes in advance). One of our meals (sea food sampler) was excellent while the other (shrimp / mushroom ravioli) was moderately good. Both were well presented and priced in the mid to upper range. We ate our other meals at different locations around southern Quadra Island.

If you have to make a choice.....

We also stayed at April Point Lodge about 15 minutes north of this location. The rooms were pretty much equal in value with the AP units being a little newer and better appointed, but requiring patrons walk outside to get anywhere (it rains here a lot in the "off season) while the this in not required at Tsa-Kwa-Luten unless you stay at a cabin. Tsa-Kwa-Luten requires a car if you hope to do anything but beach and forest walks or want to ride a bike (available free to guests). April Point has a very limited waterfront (it is surrounded by private property) but is located right next to it, whereas the shore at Tsa-Kwa-Luten is virtually unlimited & untamed, but is about a 100 meter sloped walk from the lodge (its self-sufficient cabins are 50 feet from the shore). We considered both facilities to be of equal value and both afford great opportunities to watch the water and wildlife (eagles, whales etc) in comfortable settings. If you want to do long beach walks and feel removed from the world, perhaps Tsa-Kwa-Luten is a better choice. If you want the convenience of easy access to Campbell River, the spa experience, excursions and kayak rentals then AP might be a better option (these are 15 minutes from Tsa-Kwa-Luten)

Room Tip: Upper floor has a slightly better view. Some rooms have king sized beds

I went last weekend for a wedding and it was a great experience. It was odd that there were no Tv's in the room and also the door in our room did not lock properly. There was also one front desk lady who wasnt very friendly and not very helpful. Other then those things it was very nice.

The Lodge is located near the South end of Quadra Island. It is quite remote and is on a large parcel of land. There is the lodge itself and 4 cottages that are located very close to the water. You park your vehicle in front of the cottages and the view is spectacular. There are walking paths and many eagles in the area. We stayed in a cottage where there is no T.V. or WiFi. There is a two burner stove top/ bar fridge/ sink combination in the kitchen. There were plenty of dishes and all the pots, pans, appliances ,etc.you need to cook.
Check in time is very strictly enforced so if you arrive before 2:30, you have to wait and no contact is made with the cleaning staff to see if your unit is available. The cottages are quite ordinary and not what we expected for the price we paid. One of the windows was broken and two of the large windows in the living room had broken seals so it was difficult to see out.
The difficulties we had were :
1. The first glass we took out of the cupboard and then the tea pot were filthy. We then decided to wash all the dishes and cutlery we would need for our stay.
2. One burner on the stove would work for a short period of time and then not work.
3. The barbecue burners were all rusted and only one of them would light.
4. The fridge had been set at a high level and we did not check it so overnight most of our food froze including our milk.
5. The toilet would not flush properly when we first tried it.We worked at it with the plunger, extra water, etc. and finally had the maintenance person come in the evening to fix it.

We stayed in a cottage and found it to be the perfect quiet getaway. There are only 5 cottages and each are quite private and just across from the ocean. The views of the mountains of Vancouver island were just amazing. There were 2 bedrooms, a kitchenette (no oven but pretty much everything else), a nice gas fireplace, a bbq, and everything was clean and it all felt cozy and private. The property had 2 nice walks (a forest walk and 1 along the ocean to Cape Mudge village). Eagles were prominent as there are lots of trees that they like all around. A perfect base to explore the island or just hunker down and watch the water, waves and ships. Unfortunately the restaurant is not open in the off season. We have heard nothing but good things about it. Maybe next time.

Room Tip: Cottage 404 is the last one in the row so it only has 1 neighbour.

We spent two nights in a beachfront cottage. The cottage had two bedrooms a fireplace, kitchen, jetted bath tub and a beautiful view. The wifi didn't work in our cottage and the cottage didn't have a TV which wasn't really a problem as we brought a dvd player to watch a movie at night. The location is just a 10 minute drive from the ferry . The staff were helpful and gave us a map of the island. Rebecca spit is a beautiful beach area at the other end of the island, a must see. We heard about Main lakes provincial park and wanted to go kayaking there. We couldn't find it and when we found a map with it , we realized it is way down at the other end of the island. These cottages are the perfect getaway ! The ferry cost $45 return for two of us and a car.
