My husband and I and a friend stayed at the Nassauer Hof in St Goarshausen, Germany, on the Rhine, in the latter part of May, and were very satisfied with our stay. We also were especially grateful for all the kindness and assistance shown to us by the hostess, Ruth Caspari, who helped us with a major problem with which we had to contend.
We were taking day-trip cruises up the Rhine and had stopped to spend the night at the Nassauer Hof while we took short trips to the Loreley Rock and other nearby attractions. While waiting on a bench for a bus to take us up to the Loreley overlook, my husband left his i-Pad behind on the bench and did not realize it until we were at the overlook. We hurried back down to the bus stop, but the i-Pad was gone.
Fortunately for us, Ms. Caspari had lived and worked in England for some time in the past, and she speaks good English. She contacted the local police officials to report the missing i-Pad, and also contacted the office of the community officials as well. Without her help in this matter, we would not have known how to go about contacting the appropriate persons, and most likely would not have had a good outcome to the story. Because of her help in making these contacts, however, she was able to tell us the good news the next morning that some young school girls had found the i-Pad and they had given it to the mother of one of the girls, who had in turn contacted the police. Almost certainly this happy outcome would not have occurred without the help of Ms. Caspari, and we are very grateful to her.
Besides our good fortune in this matter, we were also quite pleased with the helpfulness and friendliness of Ms. Caspari and the other hotel staff in general. We were given good advice on where to have a fine dinner at a restaurant very close to the hotel, as well as other useful information. The accommodations and the decor at the Nassauer Hof were neat, clean, and very pleasing. The buffet breakfast which came with our reservation featured a nice variety of foods and drinks, and was served in a nicely decorated dining area near the lobby.
The Nassauer Hof is also in an ideal location in St Goarshausen for access to all the things we wanted to see and do while there, which is why we had chosen it to make our reservation. As mentioned, the hotel is very conveniently located to a nice restaurant close by, as well as to other shops of various kinds. It is very close to the docks for the various Rhine cruise lines, and also to the bus stop area where you catch the bus for the short ride up to the Loreley Rock overlook. It is also near to the dock where a small foot & car ferry makes frequent runs across the river to the town of St Goar on the other side. Taking the ferry across gives you quick access to the restaurants and shops of St Goar, as well as to the miniature train which takes you up to visit the Rheinfels castle. The Nassauer Hof is also located a short walking distance to the town train station, for those who may be travelling by train along the Rhine.
We were very pleased with our stay at the Nassauer Hof, and with the friendly and helpful assistance and information we received while there, and we definitely will stay there again if we are ever traveling in the Rhine region in the future. We can sincerely recommend the Nassauer Hof to others, and are sure they will find their stay equally pleasing and enjoyable.
