“A Wonderful Place To Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2013

Nestle in the village of Bouzy in the Champagne district is a real gem of a B and B. Situated in the champagne house of Paul Clouet this bed and breakfast offers quiet, secure and commodious accommodations. Our room was on the second floor overlooking a brick courtyard. It was large, tastefully decorated and airy. The facility also features a very nice interior garden. The breakfast meal was sensational including french toast, eggs, fresh fruit, croissants, cheeses and ham. The staff was welcoming and our two day stay was a highlight of our trip.

Les Barbotines is really lovely. The staff are fantastic, the public areas and bedrooms are delightful and well appointed (with free wi-fi), the breakfast is staggeringly good and then, of course, there's the champagne! Champagne tastings are offered, of course, and it's good to be able to sample both Clouet and Bonnaire products. We only spent one night here, breaking our trip from the south to Calais, and wish it could have been longer because we weren't able to make the most of the beautiful gardens because of rain. The location is really quiet, but be warned: there are no restaurants within walking distance except for the auberge in Bouzy which only opens at lunchtime, so dinner is a drive away - this is a real shame if you both love a glass or two of wine with your evening meal. A tip from a German couple we met is to have a good lunch and then buy some bread and cheese to go with a bottle of Paul Clouet rose at Les Barbotines in the evening!

This was a wonderful place to stay. We had the gite just around the corner and it was perfect for our family (my husband, self, our daughter, son in law and their 10 month old, and our son.) Very well equipped kitchen if you wanted to self cater, but good restaurants recommended by Marie-Therese nearby. Close to Rheims and Epernay etc.
An amazing breakfast and every friendly service. We would all highly recommend Les Barbotines.
.. and we enjoyed the Clouet champagne as well.

A long weekend in the champagne region with friends was made even better by staying at Les Barbotines. The location, service and value was simply fantastic and I could not recommend highly enough. The tranquility of the town was what we were after and it was not far to Epernay or Reims.

Madame Marie-Therese Bonnaire greeted me while watering the carefully tended gardens of the extensive front courtyard, where plenty of secure car parking is available, with locked gates at night. Her relaxed and cheerful welcome and interesting conversation set the tone for a refreshing stay in immaculately cared-for rooms, and the extensive back lawn and gardens with plenty of deck chairs provide a perfect recovery from the rigors of travelling. My spacious upstairs double room with ample bathroom was well equipped, and a very comfortable bed! Downstairs are two large dining rooms, and a comfortable lounge, perfect if you want even more room to relax and talk with friends, or spread out computers and catch up on some correspondence, although there is excellent wifi throughout the property. Madame provided a degustation of her family Paul Clouet's champagnes, all redolent of the characters of cream and raspberries typical of grand cru Bouzy pinot noir grapes, and it was lovely to share it with other travellers. She also happily helped us to enjoy her husband's Domaine Bonnaire champagnes from Cramant. Breakfast is luxuriously extensive, served in the stylish dining rooms. Bouzy is a village packed with excellent winemakers, with Les Barbotines a perfect base for exploring great champagnes, and it is worth the drive to the top of the hill for the magnificent panorama over the vineyards of Bouzy and Ambonnay (and maybe a simple picnic from the nearby bakery).

Les Barbotines is a harmonious place to stay, with excellent hospitality, and very good champagnes!

This is our 4th stay at this property. We have stayed in both Reims and Epernay in the past, but prefer this quiet Grand Cru village. This year we were delayed by two days due to Air traffic strike and had to spend two days in Iceland. I was so happy to finally get there after lots of stress, it was like coming home. They have a variety of rooms from a cozy romantic to an apartment with a kitchen and living area for a group or a family. They serve an incredible breakfast that is included with their reasonable rates. The family that owns this property is affiliated with two Champagne houses, tasting is available as is purchase, or a chilled bottle can be brought to you in the garden or salon. They have free wireless internet and parking and a great Restaurant is about 2 miles away.

Room Tip: Depends on you needs. We have stayed in two in the main house, very cozy. Have stayed in the apartme...

We stayed for 2 nights to buy champagne for a celebration.( having visited before just to buy) We were offered the gite as the bedrooms in the house were fully booked. The gite was well appointed with great comfort and we had the use of a kitchen and lounge of our own, with breakfast in the main house. Car parking secure in the house courtyard. Madam Bonnaire was most welcoming and with our little french we managed a conversation and some amusing chats. A bottle of champagne was enjoyed in the courtyard garden.
The breakfast was amazing and with different offerings each day, from normal french croissants and jams +eggs, hams, cheese, french toast, fresh fruits,in one of the 2 beautifully appointed dining rooms. We had a champagne tasting and Madam advised us on which were best for aperitifs or with meals. We tasted both Bonnaire and Clouet. A wonderful couple of days thank you.

Room Tip: In the main house, our the gite if you want a little more space, but the gite has no garden, but on...
