This is by far the best place in NS, Canada. We stayed in a delux room with balcony with fantastic views of the golf course and water. The food was the best we've ever had...ever. The course was beautiful with even better views. The whole staff was friendly. I wish our whole trip would have been spent at Cabot Links. The only reason to return to NS.

I stayed and played here in mid-August.

The golf course is spectacular with fantastic ocean views and a true links. It still needs to grow in a bit in a few areas which I expoect will happen by next season. It would be beneficial to add a couple of stairways down to the beach so the occassional errant tee shot can be hit back onto the golf course.

The hotel room was very modern, large, and had a great view overlooking the golf course and ocean. It was somewhat pricey at $280 plus taxes but there is no other property in the area that is comparable and being able to walk out of your room and onto the golf course is a definite advantage.

Food service for me was good for breakfast but several other guests in the breakfast room at the same time had to leave or were rushed for their tee time because of slow orders coming from the kitchen (not sure why this was as my order seemed to come out in a normal time).

Room Tip: All the rooms are on the same side of the building so all have the same view. Second floor balconies...

I drove up to Cabot Links expecting a new golf resort. It was new and it was golf. I'll start off by saying that the view was breathtaking, the golf course was gorgeous and the food at the restaurant was every bit worth the cost. Also, the rooms were cute, clean and the bathrooms were very much so up to par.

Here's where they are in need of help. Cabot Links is set right off of a busy road in Inverness surrounded by trailers, houses and local businesses. The landscaping is far from being finished leaving you with a poor first impression. The hospitality was lacking in that everyone seemed very apprehensive about their positions in the hotel, do I greet the new guests proactively? do I ask to carry bags? Do I ask if they're checking in? How their travels were? Everyone meets you with aloofness and a level of uncomfortableness. Once you get to your room, all of the entrances are outside as though you're in a glorified motel. The hotel offers no spa, no pool, no gym, no business center, no amenities at all.

There is no practice range and the practice green is very small. They do not allow 9 hole rounds for the most part unless it's at a certain time of day.

If you want to go, set your expectations as such: I'm going to golf, I'm going to eat, and I'm going to sleep. This is no thrills, great golf with a place to sleep and a place to buy a beer and a burger.

Cabot Links is a golf resort. Every hole has a water view; the wind blows in from the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Every room overlooks the course, most with balconies. The views are breathtaking at sunset. (Nice touch: rooms have quotes painted on their door, e.g., “I’ve spent most of my life playing golf…the rest I’ve just wasted.” My favorite, “You can talk to a fade, but a hook just won’t listen.”) The resort seems to have opened in the last several months, and a portion of the hotel is still under construction. This entire project has proved a boost to the local economy, and the young folk with jobs clearly appreciate their status. They are trying very hard, and their attitude is contagious.

All that said, the place presents some challenges. The parking lot serves as a bag drop, valet stand, and self-park, all in an area with fewer spaces than your average Rite-Aid. The lobby is cramped (for checking in; there is no seating area), and there are no common rooms at the facility. The pro shop/restaurant are more expansive, but meals are expensive and in demand, meaning you’re not really going there to hang out. Eat, buy, or be gone. There is no pool, and beach access involves driving half a mile up the road, turning down a service lane, finding parking, then walking along a delightful boardwalk before crossing onto the sand.

Rooms are likewise small, but they are freshly painted, sleekly decorated, and pleasantly appointed with a large flat screen, refrigerator (partially working), and unlimited VOIP phone service. Bathrooms are spacious, featuring separate shower and tub, L’Occitane products, and more of the minimalist gray and soft white décor. My shower leaked, but Shane fixed it as soon as I brought it to his attention.

It is hard to rate a hotel when golf is intrinsic to the experience. If you don’t come for the golf, come for the proximity to Cape Breton National Park, the west side entrance a leisurely half hour or so up the Cabot Trail. But I don’t think you come to relax. There is something about the vibe, whether the staff (nervous to please), the absence of common areas for sitting (the rooms are not big enough for two chairs), the restaurant (separately reviewed, not well), or the lack of any diversion besides the course (the town of Inverness lacks the charm of, say, Lunenburg or even St. Andrews, NB), that puts you on edge. Maybe if I took up golf…

Room Tip: Spend the extra $ for a balcony

This is great links golf. The course is almost totally finished and we can't say enough good things about it. Some surrounding work still has to be done, but that doesn't interfere with the experience. The golf and hotel staff also could not be nicer and more obliging. The rooms are quite stylish and comfortable...all have spectacular views over the course to the sea. The restaurant has good food and nice views, plus the swell staff.

Room Tip: some rooms don't have a balcony. our room only had a shower, I don't know about other room...

Not sure if it's the loveliness of each and every staff person (christopher at front desk, Ellen pro-shop, hostess in restaurant and every server) sublime repasts served in either of the two restaurants or the incredible contemporary vibe that makes Cabot Links a truly fabulous place to stay! Every room has floor to ceiling windows with aaaaaammmmmazing western seaside/links views! The rooms are fresh, bright and airy. The hardware in the bathroom is even gorgeous! We loved having the commode and shower/ double sink area separated into 2 rooms. Showering in such a huge shower replete with a rain shower head was so relaxing. The lighting is fantastic, linens first rate too. The only drawback to our experience is that it is a shame that the windows don't open...a nighttime ocean breeze is priceless. Also, only a few of the rooms have balconies and even theses rooms only have a door that opens.
Even if you don't intend to play golf...or even if you don't like golf, you should stay here!
Be sure to check out the pro-shop! The selection is among the best I have seen at any resort in Canada or the USA!
Dinner...worth every penny! Divine! Lobster ravioli, fish chowder- mmmmmmm!
