“Great golf & incredible views!”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

Stayed & Cabot Links on Sept 8th in a 2nd floor deluxe king room with balcony. Room was small but nicely furnished with incredible views of the Gulf of St Lawerence. The golf course is demanding especially if it's windy and the scenery is fantastic, with water views from virtually every hole. We ate supper @ the Panorama dining room which also faces the gulf & had a very nice meal with good service. If you're a golfer you shouldn't miss this gem

Thanks for joining us here in Inverness! I am happy that you enjoyed your room and the views from both your balcony and the golf course. Panorama Restaurant is a perfect place to finish off any day so thank you for stopping in there as well.

We hope to see you again soon.

Best regards,
Andrew

Played Cabot Links Sept. 2. The course was in superb condition, plus we had only about a 15 klm. wind. Perfect conditions. The one thing that I noticed, different from almost all other courses in Nova Scotia, was the pacing of the other golfers by the starter, once we started playing, we never seen anybody in front or behind us. We also were fortunate to meet a couple from Toronto who were a blast to golf with. Just a great time. Plan to go back at least twice next year.

Incredible, attentive staff. When a manager heard we were a family of five he immediately contacted housekeeping to send over more towels, without our asking. Location cannot be beat. Beach was beautiful for swimming, calm and on average 75 degrees. Two great restaurants, one upscale and one great for family. Food was excellent in both.
I just wish they had a direct path to the beach, but understand that would mean people crossing the golf course which isn't ideal.
My husband golfed and absolutely loved it!

A new lodge, part of the Cabot Links golf enterprise. The lodge is excellent. The rooms are simple, modern and have excellent views. Unfortunately, the first floor rooms don't open. The restaurants associated with the lodge offer good food at reasonable prices. We played the golf course on gorgeous day with no wind (an unusual situation). There are great views, but the course is short without wind and lacks the robust bravura of its sister courses in Oregon at Bandon Dunes. Also, the town of Inverness pushes right up against the course on the landward side and detracts slightly from the aura. The old company houses lack any sort of rural charm. All the same a great day. A bit pricey, but generally worth it.

Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to join us here in Inverness. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the Lodge and felt comfortable in the rooms. I should let you know that while we will not have outdoor access through the front of the rooms on the bottom floor, we be adding additional widnows to let in some of that amazing ocean breeze.

On the course front, it looks like you caught it on a very calm day and I hope your scoring relfected that! I am not sure if you played from the tips (over 6800 yards) or not but it does offer a pretty good test from there and with any wind in play, things can get a little more difficult!

Like some of the great courses in Scotland and Ireland, Cabot is located directly in the midst of the town. While I try to not make it a practice to disagree with our guests, I do feel that the town offers a great deal of rural charm to the overall experience at Cabot. It is very different from most golf courses but that is precisely why I love it! Cabot Cliffs, which will be further removed from town, should offer exactly what you are looking for. I think the combination of the two has the potential to be something special.

Thanks again for joining us and we look forward to welcoming you to Inverness again.

Best regards,
Andrew

I have been to Bandon Dunes and would jump at the chance to go back, but when we heard about Cabot Links I thought why not give it a try.
First, I thought the course would be off on some peninsula or by itself so I was completely taken by surprise when boom there it was in the middle of town. This isn't bad because there are places that you could walk to when you want to take a break from golf. The check in for the rooms is right there next to the pro shop which is convenient. The rooms are clean but very simple but with great views of the course and the water. We upgraded to a deluxe so we had a balcony with two stools (I didn't get the stools concept).
The pro shop is attached to the hotel and the staff were extremely friendly. The bar/lounge is a few steps away and is on the smallish side but the 15th Club sandwich we had was out of this world. The upstairs dining room (Panorama) again is very simple but the view is beautiful. Food was ok. We also visited the Cabot House which just a stroll up the hill and enjoyed a tasty pizza and great beer as well as fun conversation.
We ventured to the Red Show Pub and were pleasantly surprised when many of the locals gathered and played their own instruments. Thank you to Jerry (spoon player) who recommended we stay and listen as it was a fabulous evening.
Now back to the golf, we enjoyed playing Cabot with its "links" style challenges. We also experienced waits on the course but I think that is because it is such a "local" course unlike Bandon that is a "destination" course. I believe the addition of the Cabot Cliffs which you can see in the distance will help as it will offer another option and maybe relieve the crowded play. It is a great walk with a lot of elevation changes and views from any hole with wind in your face and greens that will cause you to pull our hair out!

Room Tip: get a room with a balcony.

Thanks for joining us here at Cabot and we are certainly happy that you gave us a try!

Your feedback was entitled "Fun" and that is exactly what we try and offer here at Cabot, and in Cape Breton as a whole. It is great that you took the time to explore all of the facilities here and in the surrounding villages. The preservation of the Celtic Culture, it's music, language and all that it has to offer is something to be celebrated, and we try to do that on a daily basis - your time at the Cabot Public House and the pub down the road is a testament to that!

Thanks again for coming.

Cheers,
Andrew

Family vacation at a golf course, right on! Great sandy beach with lifeguard, enough rocks to keep the kids entertained. The water was surprisingly warm and calm - in and out all day. Don't miss the Burger/Lobster Roll Shack on the beach. The modern hotel was fantastic, the beds were very comfortable with all the right amenities- like the L'Occitane soap/shampoo. Golf Quotes on each door to your room was a fun touch. We ate at the Cabot Public House (with the Kids) which offers casual dining and the Panorama Restaurant (just the adults) which offers great views of the ocean and golf course along with terrific food. The Golf course (Top 100 in the world) was a treat to play, fun par 3 towards the ocean with the wind in your face. The staff are very friendly and on the ball- noticing we were a family of 5, had extra towels to our room without asking. Final word: we would go again!

Cabot Links was a very good place to stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, though not luxurious. Meals were good, with a focus on quality ingredients. The location is scenic and beautiful. The primary attraction is golf.
