“Can't Beat Cabot Links”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

Driving through Cape Breton coastal villages and rural countryside does not prepare the innocent traveller for the sophistication and comfort of Cabot Links. Built on reclaimed land on a spectacular oceanfront site, the Cabot Links Inn offers views of the beautiful, first-class golf course and the ocean beyond. The rooms are wonderfully comfortable, spacious, with excellent bathrooms and the most comfortable bed we experienced on our three week trip to Maine and Nova Scotia. Our second floor room opened through sliding glass doors onto a small balcony with the course a few yards away. The management staff here were outstanding, making our three night stay a perfect long weekend and the Nova Scotia-made soft sheeps wool blankets are incomparable. This is a unique and special place, adjoining a first-rate restaurant with superb cuisine. We are planning to return as soon as possible.

Room Tip: All rooms face the golf links and the ocean. We prefer the upper floor rooms with balcony.

Thank you for taking some time out of the busy schedule and glad to hear that your trip to the area was a good one! Throughout our short time here, we have prided ourselves in nailing some of the little details and our custom beds are one of them - I'm happy they made your stay!!!

I'm also pleased to hear that you enjoyed your time in Panorama. We have a great team in the kitchen and some of the nicest people you'll find anywhere in the front of house and they all aim to please. I will certainly pass this along to the rest of the crew and I know they will be delighted!!

Thanks again for joining us.

Best regards,
Andrew

Four couples travelled to Cape Breton to play golf in late September of 2013.
our last stop on the cabot trail was at cabot links of Inverness, Nova Scotia!
Here set on an old coal mine looking out over the Gulf of St Lawrence is one of thr finest courses any of us have played in the world!
it was right up there with the irish course Royal County Down.
Magnificent undulating fairways, with expansive rolling greens, where ones bump and run has to be very accurate an incredibly fun brand of golf.
At the turn, a great highlight are the delicious lobster sliders.
The rooms are first class.
The staff are as friendly as you'll find, anywhere.
A new jewel in world golf.

Living and playing golf in Scotland, I was intrigued to find out what Cabot Links would offer. I was not disappointed, the course matched the best Scottish links that I have played. Fantastic experience and I look forward to returning in a few years to play the course again and try out the new Cliffs course.

Thanks so much for taking the time to drop us a line and we are certianly glad you enjoyed the course. Cabot Cliffs is coming along nicely and promises to be a great complement to our first course here in Inverness.

We look forward to having you back with us and hearing your thoughts on Coore and Crenshaw's project here at Cabot.

The room was nice. Larger tv, modern, large bathroom, shower is big enough for two.( no tub) separate water closet. Small fridge. No microwave. As far as I could tell, there is no "bad" view. All rooms face the water and golf course. You are paying for the view and the golf course, which is kept immaculate btw. Staff are very helpful and pleasant.

Room Tip: There are no budget rooms. All rooms are very much equally high end. However, I would recommend gett...

Nicest/most modern rooms on Cape Breton Island.
Lovely bathrooms and beautiful view.
Price matches.
Tastey bar food in the Panorama bar - the avocado crab salad was good and the arugula sald was delicious. The onion rings were excellent and the fish and chips - though salty - were very tasty.
Concerns
1) The wine we chose was described as a 2009 Kim Crawford "Small Parcels" Sauvignon Blanc and we were served a regular 2012 Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc - which we would not have known if I had not checked the label.
Certainly - the guests should be made aware if they are not receiving what they have ordered!!!
2) On arrival, the heat in the room was not working - which was sorted out when we contacted reception. Unfortunately - later on in the night we were unable to cool the room - so spent a very warm sleepless night!
The heating system needs to be dealt with.

Room Tip: we saw the double and the double deluxe.all face the water. The double deluxe is slightly larger an...

Thank you for joining us here at Cabot, and taking the time to write. I am glad you enjoyed your stay for the most part and we will work hard to address the areas of concern.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the service gaps you experienced while on property. I am sure that your wine experience was an honest mistake on our behalf and I will follow up with our team to ensure they know the difference between the two. We have many wines by the same producer that are of a different vintage, or even a different varietal altogether and it is imperative that we get this right. I am sorry that it was you that had to brign that to our attention.

On the rooms side of things, this seems to be a seasonal battle as later in the year, the temperatures tend to fluctuate with cool mornings, hot afternoons and cool evenings. Aside from taking a look at the capabilities of the system, we will begin the property wide initiative of adding operable windows to each of our rooms. We will begin this in late October and will have this ready to go for the start of next season. While this has been an ongoing battle, I expect this will give our guests greater control over the temperature in their rooms and solve things going forward!

Thanks again for getting in touch and we hope to see you here again soon.

Best regards,
Andrew

What a piece of paradise in a rural setting. I know this is a golf resort, but it was a breathe of fresh air for myself and husband, who love this area but consider most accommodations to be roughing it in the area. The view was breath taking, room was clean and had all amenities. We chose a balcony room. We never sat out there but it was nice to be able to open the slider. Every staff member I encountered was helpful and very friendly. All the restaurants had great food and menus. I plan to come back and love it here.

I took us two planes and a drive to get to Cabot Links, but certainly worth the effort. 3 of us made the trip to play 5 courses in Cape Breton and Cabot Links was the first. We stayed on-site and the rooms are quite nice, not large, but very nicely appointed with a great view of the first tee and the St. Lawrence.

We were not able to eat in the main restaurant as it was fully booked for the two nights we were there so the first night we ate in bar. The food was very good but somewhat expensive. The second night we drove 10 minutes down the road and ate at the Glenora Inn and Distillery. The food and service was oustanding and we thought very reasonably priced.

The golf at Cabot Links did not disappoint. We played 36 holes with caddies and the experience was outstanding. The course played hard and fast like a links course should and of course the wind was always a factor. We played the top courses in Northern Ireland last year and this course was as close to true links golf as I have played in North America and I include Bandon Dunes in the comparison. It was a brillant way to start our trip.

I would go definitely go back when the 2nd 18 is ready and make it a three or four day stay

Thank you for making the trip to Cape Breton and to Cabot! I am glad you made it to this side of the Island and enjoyed your time with us.

I was disappointed to here that we were unable to accommodate you in Panorama. It has been a very busy season here in Inverness but we should have made a better effor to take good care of you. Please let me know when you can make it back this way as I would like you to have the complete experience.

We have had an amazing season on the course as well and the on course conditions are certainly a testament to the great job that our Turf Crew has done this year. We had Graeme MacDowell and Graham DeLaet in head to head match in September and even the pros had great things to say about the property. Stay tuned for more on that!

Cabot Cliffs is well under way with a few of the holes seeded already. The fall weather has been incredible and the team is hard at work in an effort to capitalize on that. The layout is sensational and we look forward to sharing that with our guests before too long.

Thanks again for joining us here at Cabot and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best regards,
Andrew
