“Stock standard cheap grub”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2013 via mobile

Had one if their English breakfasts the other day, quality of ingredients is very average but you get what you pay for at under £4 for a big plate of food. Full of calories but if you want a breakfast to soak up the night before in clean surroundings and pleasant staff this is a good choice. The only alarming part is the locals ordering pints at 9am but I guess each to their own and as only the first of the day they were pleasant enough...

“Lovely relaxing pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 September 2013 via mobile

Visited this wetherspoons for breakfast whilst staying in Walton on Thames. You know what you get with Wetherspoons and this was no different. The service was excellent and the food the same. The pub itself was very clean and tidy and had no stale beer smell that you find in Wetherspoons sometimes.

“Surprising little pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2013

I have been here a few times and really can't say enough about it! I've been to lots of wetherspoons and they are usually pretty average bars with cheap drinks, but I really love this one. Nice atmosphere although it can be quiet and we have always had fantastic food at great value (5 star hygiene rating). Staff are friendly and the crowd are not your typical wetherspoons bunch!great for lunch or cheap dinner!

“Top-value pub with wide range of food & drink”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2013

A large group of us were in Walton-on-Thames rehearsing for a concert, and this was the nearest pub, so we ended up in here several times over the weekend.

It grew on me. This pub (presumably like other Wetherspoons) does a remarkable job of trying to satisfy a wide range of different customers, at very cheap prices.

It serves not just standard beers and other drinks but also a constantly-changing range of real ales; maybe a range of wines too (I didn't try any).

There was a very wide choice of food, again trying (successfully) to satisfy all tastes, from traditional British favourites like steak & kidney pie, curry and lasagne, gastropub fare (eggs benedict, panini, gourmet burgers, lattes), and even breakfast (porridge, bacon buns, etc.) The nod to middle-class sensibilities extended to 'sustainable' fish & chips, and stating the (huge number of) calories by every dish on the menu.

The food turned out to be reasonably good quality - hilariously, their best claim to this was large signs declaring a 5/5 rating for hygiene! Service was good and prompt.

Meals were extraordinary value - typically £6 for main course and drink. There was also a range of special deals for quiet days and times - very much designed to draw people in at all hours and keep them happily in there. (We reckoned Ian Duncan-Smith could easily live in here on £53 per week, if he picked the highest-calorie options.)

On the entertainment front there's a TV and slot machines, but also free wi-fi, and shelves of rather random books.

The pub is no doubt stiff competition for nearby traditional curry houses, chippies and so on, some of which seemed to be feeling the pinch and had special offers of their own (half price etc.) I feel sorry for them, as it must be very hard to compete with this place.
