Just stayed on a two day break, so glad it wasn't any longer. The place itself isn't too bad and the staff are friendly and helpful but the room we stayed in..room 3....was not what we expected. The bathroom was just a small pod built into a cupboard which you had to step up into. You couldn't stand in front of the sink because the toilet was in the way. You were forced to shut the door for privacy which made the whole experience very claustrophobic. We're of average build and we struggled, so bear this in mind. I'm not sure how many of the rooms are the same design.

This is our third visit to the Bay Horse and again it was just perfect. Very friendly, welcoming staff, spacious room and excellent food as always.Breakfast just right. The hotel is in just ther right place for walking in Kielder, the Coquet valley or in the Cheviots. Will definitely return.

Our third visit to the Bay Horse Inn and we were not disappointed. Received a warm welcome on checking in and shown to our room(7)-lovely spacious bathroom and bedroom .Evening meals(included in deal on first night) were of a very high standard and of good quality .Warm, friendly service too .Choice of eating in restaurant or lounge bar. Breakfasts each morning were tasty ,hot and food locally sourced .A most enjoyable stay-yet again.

Room Tip: Rooms 6 & 7- quite spacious .All rooms tastefully decorated- some larger than others .Dog friend...

Nice, but remote location, ideal for walking and relaxing, though, lovely countryside, quite a way to Hexham as listed in the hotel details .We stayed on a voucher offer, outside careworn and in need of maintenance , interior clean, and some recent refurbishment to some rooms. Most staff were friendly and helpful, but landlord behind bar appeared disinterested and distant, Food in bar very average and overpriced, Housewine priced at £14.99 p a bottle very overpriced. Room ok, Washing facilities poor (pod) could not swing a mouse let alone a cat, Hopefully this is something the owners will consider when setting standard their tariffs. Would not revisit even on a voucher.

just had a very pleasant 2 night stay at the Bay Horse. Meals very good and breakfast delicious.
Room 4 comfortable, en-suite tiny but spotless and fine for a 2 night stay.Staff very welcoming.
Perfect place for ramblers, walkers and cyclists alike to stay and enjoy all the surrounding areas
have to offer.

Room Tip: suggest rooms 6 or 7

what a lovely traditional locals village pub, great food, propoer butchers breakfast, comfy rooms. The bathrooms are a bit like being in a caravan, but spotless. But I'd rather have a small and clean bathroom, than one that was grubby and mouldy

We stayed for a 2 night stay Mon 24/02/2014 and 25/02/2014 we were welcomed by Gail behind the bar who was extremely helpful and friendly.

We had lunch which was very nice and then had a couple of drinks the people in the pub who I presume we're regulars were also very friendly.

We then went to the room which was very clean and very nice.

The meals in the evening were fantastic and great value for money, the breakfasts in the morning were fantastic and all made with great, local produce.

The stay was thoroughly enjoyed and we would definitely call back.

Great base for keen walkers.

Pete & Rachel

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 7 which was a lovely room on the rear of the hotel so not much of a view
