Villa verde is a small village a few kilometres outside Corralejo with 3 or 4 great little restaurants It is well worth the trip. The restaurants here are a nice change from the restaurants in Corralejo. Some are good but they tend to be too similar.

El Horno is a typical local taverna and to see mostly locals here gives you confidence. I do pity the poor guy on the really hot open grill as you enter. In the Spanish mid day sun and the grill!!?/ I just had to send him a, much appreciated, cool beer. We loved the authentic atmosphere, the lay out and the busy feel of the place.

The food was a little varied but in general very good indeed....crusty fresh bread with superb fresh prawns in garlic to start then excellent octopus but my beautifully grilled meat was a bit tough. We had a really smooth bottle of red....Ramon Bilbao. Dessert of the local dish was average.

Overall we really like El Horno and will for sure go back when we are in Corralejo next time .

Good Spanish/canarian food, plus 'tourist food' well worth the journey. Too much to eat and desserts to die for. Service great

Me and my wife ordered a mixed grill, their signaturedidh ( can't remember actual name of dish on menu ). But told it was easily enough fir two. It was enough meat for two but the accompany of veg and potatoes was next to nothing. The meat it's self was hit and miss, we asked for it medium , the fillet beef was totally raw and the toughest fillet I have ever tasted , the pork was perfect and so was the lamb but there was plenty of all just a shame the beef fillet was not edible. Wine was nice service was good.

We are huge fans of Casa Marcos in Villaverde but as it was shut for the whole of January we thought we'd give El Horno a try. The bill came in at roughly the same as an equivalent meal at Casa Marcos but the food was nothing like as good. The chorizo starter was enormous but lacklustre, the Iberian Secret (pork dish) was a disappointment and the grilled rabbit was fine but very unexciting, arriving with a few chips and no other accompaniment. The fig ice cream dessert was actually very tasty and a bit different, but I'm afraid it was too little too late to endear us to this restaurant. We shan't be returning when there are better options close by.

Villaverde is about 15 minutes taxi ride from Corralejo and will cost about €15 depending where you are staying. However, the visit to El Horno restaurant will definitely be worth the trip.
We booked a table (recommended) by phone and were pleased at how easy it was. The restaurant has an adequate car park and is easily seen from the road. The menu is quite varied and imaginative. The food is expertly cooked and presented, the Iberian salad is especially noteworthy as a starter.
The room is quite spacious and has various curiosities to keep you amused between courses.
There's a roaring fire in the room and it was a very comfortable temperature as sometimes the evenings can be quite cold.
I'd go back again for sure and if you can justify the cab ride, you should give it a go if you like "better than average" food, and individual attention.
