Ashbourne Heights Holiday Park

Earlier this summer my wife and I took our daughter and our grandson to stay in a lodge at Ashbourne heights. The site was an ideal place to take children. It has a swimming pool and an adventure playground along with plenty of pathways to cycle on. My grandson spent many happy hours having teamed up with other children, investigating the site. He only came back to the lodge for meals or when it got dark at night.
The lodge itself was very clean and the kitchen had a cooker, micro wave, dish washer, washing machine and a fridge freezer. The only thing that would have been useful was a toaster as you had to use the grill within the oven to make toast. The seating area had two comfortable sofas and a wall mounted TV. the master bedroom had its own en suite shower and toilet. The bed was comfortable although a little large for the size of the room room. The king size bed only left twelve inches between the side of the bed and the wall. It was a little tight to get around and you tended to open and close the curtains as you brushed past. This is the only thing about the lodge that could have been improved upon.
The site staff were both helpful and friendly and the small on site shop was useful. All in all it was a good place to go for a holiday.

i went here for a nice few days away with two of my friends, as soon as we arrived the reception was closed. the reception shut at 6pm but we did not get told to arrive before 6pm on the phone when booking we just got told to report to reception upon arrival as we couldnt arrive earlier. when we arrived we knocked on the door and the two people inside were very ajitated and annoyed as we were disturbing them whilst what looked like chatting and eating. when i told them my name they could not find any record of me booking even though booking in the previous 24hours!!!! we had to wait a long time until they found us a spot to camp and we felt like the people working there were not at all sorry for our wait and their mistake and kept sighing like it was my fault. Also whilst this woman was showing us to our spot i asked when does the takeaway open as we were relying on it for some of our meals to which she replied that it was only open on weekends, but the website did not inform us of this so we were very disappointed and aswel the food shop shut at six which she failed to tell us. Moreso you had to pay for the swimming pool and it shut at very early times. Because we didnt have a spot where there was electric we used the ralley room to charge up our phones etc... this shut at 11pm so we thought. After going to a near by pub we arrived back at the campsite at 10pm and grabbed our chargers and ran to the ralley room so our phones did not die. when we got there it was shut!!!!!!!!!! There was no staff about and they said it would not shut untill 11pm!!!!!!!!!!!! Also the next day we went to get some snacks from the shop for our lunch but when we got there it was shut for about half an hour while the three staff members went and had their lunch. firstly why could they not go individually as there was 3 of them, secondly can they not snack whilst serve and thirdly it was inconvient as people were queuing up for food and some people were complaining as they had booked swimming slots and were missing out on some of the time they payed for as no staff were to be seen and the swimming room was closed.
Although the campsite was ok in some ways i will not be returning for the reasons stated above...very disappointed as i had high expectations!!!!!!!!

We went to Ashbourne Heights for four nights/five days and stayed in one of the lodges. We were so impressed with the staff, accommodation, area etc, that we shall certainly be returning at some point. The lodge was beautiful; clean, tidy, modern, spacious and was very well equipped (with washing machine, dishwasher, utensils, en-suite, microwave etc). The staff were more than helpful - giving recommendations of places to visit, helping out when we needed a screwdriver and general information. There is a little shop on site and a takeaway if needed. Overall we were very pleased and enjoyed our break immensly.

We took our caravan and 3 children 12,10 &1 for a weekend break. We were a little worried fter seeing some bad reviews but we were really pleased with this site; clean, well maintained and friendly!
We had a pitch on the first field (Dale view) with loads of free space to playcricket/football etc and beautiful views, not overlooking other units or tents and well worth requesting and walking a little further for toilets! Little one loved chatting to the cows through the fence!
Boys loved the park and made lots of friends, realy nice people not a Chav in sight lol.
We made use of the Rally Room to watch the Olympics ClosingCeremony and there was a good atmosphere in there.
Had a swim, lovely and clean pool.
Only one shower in the central area by Reception, take away etc but got in straight away both mornings fortunately!
We shall definitely come back here again, thank you!

We stayed for 2 nights when camping. We pitched in greenacres where there is a decent play area for the kids.
There is a swimming pool but we never got to it. You need to book a place as it only takes 24 people.
Lovely rally room to sit and watch tv if that's what you want (was fab for the Olympics!!)
We ventured out and had a lovely walk along cycle paths next time we visit we'll definitely be taking the bikes.
My only gripe is the 1 shower and 2 toilets for our field. Shower looked a bit dirty so didn't use it.
Will go back.

We stayed in1 of the lodges which was lovely and spacious. It had everything you would need including a dishwasher, washing mashine and 2 lovely showers. The lodge overlooked a lovely big open space of grass which was great for our 5 yr old to play on safely (although I understand they are putting more lodges on this which will be a shame). The play park is lovely and enclosed so we felt safe letting our daughter play here also. The staff we encountered were always really friendly and helpful. We didnt get to use the pool - you have to book a time, which is very restrictive I found. Its lovely that there is no commercialisation on this site, it was quiet and peaceful while we were there which is what we needed (even though it was summer holidays). Its a lovely base to explore around the area and while there are no eating/drinking facilities on site there are a couple of lovely pubs in the area which are worth a visit (Bluebell Inn to the left, good food, good prices and nice play area for kids).
We are already looking to go back as we had such a lovely time!
