“Very unpleasant and abusive staff !!!!”
Reviewed 7 July 2014 via mobile

Be very careful when booking a stay at this park, not sure if it is under new management but we stayed in June for 3 nights and found the staff to be very rude and not wanting to help. Especially the manager, Fraser. It almost seems like when they have your money they are not interested in making you happy at all. It really spoilt our stay and will not be booking here any more. My wife came away in tears after the manager swore at her. We have stayed on this park twice before and had no problems but as I say the new members of staff really could do with some extra training in customer service.

We have been coming here for the last seven years at least 3-4 times a year . We came at easter and booked for end of may bank holiday but couldn't come on the Friday so an arrangement was made to come on sat morning. We got there at 10.15 and one of the site wardens came to meet us, he was great and really helpful. Then, the current site manager stormed over and was very abrupt with us for coming early even though it had been previously agreed and we had it in writing. I thought managers were supposed to have good people skills, we felt like we were being treated like little kids. We were dissapointed with him as we have never had any other problems while we had visited this site over the last 7 years. Overall, the site is great for kids and for walks with friendly wardens. We were just not very impressed by the attitude of the current site manager.

We really liked this place, our caravan spot was right next to the play area as requested. The site was clean and despite what some reviews said we found two toilet /shower blocks. They have a nice indoor pool, yes you pay for it but it's indoor and only around £4 I think, price of a drink!
Good space between caravans and you weren't 'sectioned' off with hedges, hate that with kids!
Brilliant base for exploring, we will use it as our first choice when going to Derbyshire. Nearby Ashbourne, Dovedale, Carsington, Ilam etc.

We had a three generation holiday the second week of the easter holidays. We stayed in lodge 4 which is 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and shower room. I couldn't fault the accommodation it was fantastic lots of lounge space. We actually managed to get 9 round the table as my sister and her family were staying in lodge 6. Towels were supplied for us which we were expecting. The kitchen area was well equipped and a really nice touch was the sachets of tea, coffee, sugar and milk when we arrived. There is a really nice large green area in front of the lodges which the children were able to play on. My boys enjoyed the swimming pool. We would definately return.

Room Tip: I would recommend Lodge 4.

Stayed here for 3 nights over the Early May Bank Holiday, we were a group of 6 adults and 6 children and we were pitched in the field with electric hook up. Fantastic location and loved the fact the campsite left a large space between tents, we were also left enough room in the field for cricket and football, though not sure if they would fill this in the height of the season.
Amenities were shower block and toilets, on site shop, indoor swimming pool (of which you had to book a slot), park and rally room (tv and comfortable seating)
The only real negativitiy is the lack of hot water I only managed a warm shower on one occasion, I also thought the cleanliness of the showers could have been more kept on top of though once they were clean they looked fine.
I think the shop maybe could open a little earlier maybe 8 - 8.30 am. Reception staff were all very friendly and helpful.
I would defiantly stay again and recommend.

Stayed here for 4 nights over the May Day Bank Holiday, Its a great location to discover Ashbourne and the surrounding area, and its right on the Tissington trail. We had a steady walk to Ashbourne and it took us and 1 Hour and 20 Mins down the trail. We were pitched in the large field at the back of the site. Our first night was the Thursday and there was only us in the field, so no need to wait for the pot wash or the showers plus plenty of piping hot water. On the Friday we got a few more campers in our field and the site was approx 1/3 full. This resulted in only being able to have a luke warm shower and cool water for the pot wash. For the size of the site it needs more amenity blocks and the only one they have is very dated. The site was clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly. I would seriously consider going elsewhere if it was going to be full over a hot BH weekend.

Stayed in a lodge for 3 nights in March. Lovely modern and comfortable. Well equiped kitchen. Plenty of seating in lounge and dining area. Stayed with freinds, two double bedrooms and separate bathrooms ideal. Both very comfortable, the larger double bedroom superb. We had great weather, and being able to sit in sun on veranda and eat meals outside brilliant. The site is ideally situated for direct access onto the Tissington trail for walking, cycling etc. No need to use the car! Fantastic tea shop in Tissington. Dovedale with its stunning river and hill walks is just up the road.

Room Tip: Two good sized double bedrooms in this lodge
